General DescriptionCollege of the Sequoias Community College District serves a diverse community of learners and is a designated Hispanic Serving Institution. College of Sequoias provides a wide range of opportunities in transfer, general education, career and technical programs for our students. We seek candidates who exhibit an understanding and commitment to the community college mission, and who have a passion for student success. College of the Sequoias Community College District is seeking qualified adjunct faculty to teach Mental Health and Psych Nursing within its Nursing Department. Course Description This course builds on and applies concepts of nursing practice to the care of patients with various mental health needs, their families, and other support persons. Application of new and previously learned nursing concepts, patient care skills, and clinical judgment occurs in a variety of clinical settings. The clinical days are either Tuesday/Wednesday or Thursday/Fridays during the day shift from 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM
Adjunct faculty assignments may include weekend and/or evening classes at the Visalia Campus, the Hanford Educational Center, or the Tulare College Center.
This position will be open until filled. Adjunct faculty positions are temporary positions and do not accrue rights to tenure.

Job DutiesUnder the general direction of a dean or director, adjunct faculty will provide comprehensive classroom instruction to community college students.QualificationsThe minimum qualifications for this position are: Master's in nursing AND Direct patient care experience within the previous five (5) years in the nursing area to which he or she will be assigned, which can be met by:One (1) year’s continuous, full-time or its equivalent experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in the designated nursing area or One (1) academic year of registered nursing level clinical teaching experience in the designated nursing area or its equivalent that demonstrates clinical competencyORBachelor's in nursing with one (1) full-time year or its equivalent experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in the designated nursing area ORAssociate of science in nursing with six (6) full-time years or its equivalent experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in the designated nursing areaORThe minimum qualifications as set by the Board of Registered Nursing, whichever is higher.Application ProcedureTo be considered for this position, applicants must submit:

Organization
College of the Sequoias is a two-year California community college offering educational and enrichment programs for the residents of its district in Tulare and Kings counties. The college was established in 1925 and moved to its current 62-acre main campus site in Visalia in 1940.
In addition to the campus in Visalia, COS operates a full-service center in Hanford that is also home to the college's police and fire academies.
COS also opened its Tulare College Center in January 2013. It is a full-service college center and the home of COS' agriculture program
