This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position within the School of Arts and Sciences teaching undergraduate courses that prepare students to teach in the K-12 educational system. Qualified candidates may be considered for the role of Chair of the Department of Education.

This position reports to the Chair of the Department of Teacher Education, the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, and the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Candidates considered for the role of the Department Chair would supervise the Teacher Education full-time and adjunct faculty, as well as the placement coordinator.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

• Teaching undergraduate teacher education courses. A normal teaching load is 24 credits each year. Candidates considered for Chair of the Department will receive 6 hours of course release each semester.
• Planning instruction and experiences that are reflective of the philosophy, objectives, and curriculum of the Department of Teacher Education.
• Providing academic advising and guidance of assigned students within the Department of Teacher Education Staying abreast of scholarly developments in specific and relevant fields as well as current teaching methodologies, curriculum development, and assessment. Contributing to the field of K-12 Teacher Education and/or the profession of college-level teaching.
• Supporting the mission, goals and objectives of Crown College.
• Engage in general faculty responsibilities that include: Participation in department and faculty meetings, Care of students, Crown College committee assignments, and At least 10 hours of scheduled office hours per week to be available to students.
• If appointed as Chair: Leading strategic planning and vision for the Teacher Education Department, Serving as state liaison, Determining the appropriate credentials and faculty qualifications, Coordinating placements and associated field experiences

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s level degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in education Five years of successful K-12 classroom teaching Understanding of Teacher Education preparation standards and requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to the above minimum qualifications):

• Doctorate in Education or similar field Licensure and experience in mathematics or science education College teaching experience Successful experience as an administrator Understanding of Minnesota Teacher Education preparation standards and requirements Experience with online data entry sites, ideally EPPAS, Tk20, etc. Experience with Teacher Education programs
