OPPORTUNITY

Harborview Medical Center – Rehabilitation has an outstanding opportunity for a PER DIEM/hourly, day shift, MULTIPLE OPENINGS, SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST 1.

WHAT WILL YOUR DAY LOOK LIKE?

The Speech Language Pathologist will be responsible for evaluation, planning, directing and administering speech/language pathology evaluation and intervention to patients with communication and swallowing disorders, as referred by a licensed provider.

Administer treatments as determined by the evaluation in an effort to restore function and prevent disability following disease or injury.

Assist patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities.

Assist to develop clinical programs for optimum patient care and service.

Participate in operational aspects, performance improvement, and Quality

Improvement activities within the department. Provide input in formulating budget, assist in evaluation of departmental performance, and take action to remain in budget guidelines.

Ensure that patient charges and documentation are accurate and entered on a timely basis. Supervise students, volunteers, and office assistants.

Participate in infection control, equipment training, compliance, safety and educational programs, both at the departmental and organizational level.

WHAT’S NEEDED?

A Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology/Audiology or Communicative Disorders or equivalent degree approved by the American Speech/Language and Hearing Association

Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech/Language and Hearing Association.

WHAT’S DESIRED?

A minimum of one year of experience as a speech pathologist or equivalent.

Experience/competencies in Acute Medical-Surgical hospital units, including Videofluorographic Swallowing Studies (barium pharyngograms).

LICENSE REQUIRED

Current WA State Licensure in Speech Pathology (as Speech-Language Pathologist).
