Description
Full-time Teaching Professor in Environmental Science

The Earth Commons, Georgetown's Institute for Environment and Sustainability and the Georgetown University's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences invite applications for a full-time non-tenure track position in Environmental Science. We seek creative, solution-oriented candidates with an interdisciplinary background in a range of environmental specialties. Our areas of interest include, but are not limited to, earth systems and natural processes, their interactions related to biology, biodiversity and conservation, ecology, climate modeling, atmospheric sciences, physics, oceanography, human population, and environmental health; environmental and climate science -- both theory and practice; ecosystem resilience, structure and function; global and/or regional environmental change and its differential human impacts; urban environmental science; food, energy, and water; socio-ecological and systems modeling.

Candidates focused on pressing environmental problems and their varied impacts within and across communities, nations or the world, coupled with strong data analytic and visualization skills, creative problem-solving skills, and enthusiasm for collaboration are especially encouraged to apply.

The successful applicant will bring an interdisciplinary perspective to teaching; will be able to analyze and clearly communicate complex scientific data and concepts to broad specialist and non-specialist audiences; and will demonstrate a commitment to exceptional graduate teaching. Candidates would have the opportunity to shape the content of new courses and contribute to program development to meet the needs of the newly launched Master of Science in Environment and Sustainability Management, in addition to other emerging interdisciplinary environmental programs and degrees of the Earth Commons.

Application Instructions:

Applicants should provide a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching statement (not to exceed two pages), a diversity and inclusion statement, names and contact information of three referees, and teaching evaluations. All candidates must hold a PhD. The start date for this position is August 1, 2022. Applications for this position must be made via Georgetown's online application management system by clicking Apply Now.
