The Opportunity:

The STEM Translational Communication Center (STCC) in the College of Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida has an opening for a full-time postdoctoral associate with a focus on health communication and equity. The postdoctoral associate will join a vibrant research team comprised of faculty, postdoctoral associates, and graduate students. The successful applicant will work with multi-disciplinary teams on the rapid development of health communication interventions to promote health equity among the diverse patient populations in our catchment area.

The postdoctoral associate will be embedded in one of the STCC’s ongoing initiatives related to increasing uptake of preventive health behaviors or clinical trials communication. The primary mentor will be Dr. Janice Krieger. The postdoc will participate in grant-writing, recruitment and retention activities, as well as planning, implementing, and evaluating innovative communication interventions. The successful applicant will have access to new and existing data sources, receive grant writing mentorship, and participate in STCC/CTSI activities. The position is one year, with potential for renewal with successful performance. The position offers a competitive salary and benefits as well as travel funds.

Schedule:

This is an on-campus, full-time Post-Doctoral position. Typical schedule is Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm.

We create strategic partnerships among university researchers, community members, the healthcare industry, and the environmental sector around evidence-based communication. We improve the messages, techniques, and strategies in science, environment, and health literacy, enhancing knowledge engagement, and behavioral change. Expected Salary:

$54,835 annually

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a background in health, science, and/or strategic communication, although scholars with related backgrounds are also encouraged to apply. Experience with grant writing, team science, qualitative and/or quantitative methods is a strength.
