Departmental Overview

Campus Applications and Data - Application Delivery (CAD-AD) in Berkeley IT leads the operations of campus software solutions that support the university's primary finance and student systems. Campus Applications and Data is part of Berkeley Information Technology (BIT). The objective of CAD-AD is to bring value to campus through a department-wide continuous cycle of improvement and feature enhancements in a suite of tightly integrated custom and purchased systems. To ensure the success of these mission-critical systems, CAD-AD is staffed with a blend of technical and functional experts who will test and implement new features, respond to campus needs, and keep all systems running optimally throughout the academic cycle and financial year. CAD-AD partners with areas across the university to ensure systems support efficient and effective operations, while introducing cutting edge functionality to best support students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members.

Responsibilities
    Manages service requests for developer tools, specifically Atlassian's Jira and Confluence spaces and GitHub repositories. Monitors and makes recommendations on when to apply software patches and upgrades. Performs moderately complex analysis to support operation of developer tools. Performs testing of software to ensure proper operation and conformance to test plans. Works closely with the Infrastructure team to ensure smooth operations of developer tools. Implements release management and coordinates communications with key stakeholders. Identifies, evaluates and develops complex processes and procedures. Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes business and user needs, documenting requirements, and revising existing system and process logic issues as necessary. Documents complex software and processes. Applies advanced concepts in working on moderately complex to complex projects, including the management of structured and unstructured content. Performs complex data analysis and analyzes the design and use of complex data sources. Interacts with teams of advanced IT professionals as a proactive member. May serve as technical lead for a project of moderate scope. Understands and applies industry practices, community standards and department / unit policies and procedures relating to work assignments. Professional Development and Training.

Required Qualifications
    Deep knowledge of and/or ability to learn Atlassian's Jira and Confluence products and GitHub or similar software development support applications. Experience troubleshooting client related issues and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance. Interpersonal skills sufficient to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner.

Preferred Qualifications
    Designs and coordinates work flow of support requests, setting priorities and tracking resolution. Ensures compliance with and provides input into service level agreements. Recommends and implements improvements to practices and procedures. Employs complex tools to perform work flow analysis and recommends quality improvements. Works independently and as part of a team. Demonstrated problem-solving skills. Ability to learn effectively and meet deadlines. Ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner. Knowledge of and/or ability to learn UC Berkeley policies, procedures, campus organizational structure and functions. In-depth understanding of the use of automation tools, including skill to perform automated processes that improve efficiency.

Salary & Benefits

This is an exempt, monthly paid position. Annual salary is commensurate with experience.

Other Information
    This is a career, 100% full-time, 40-hours per week appointment, eligible for full UC benefits. This position is eligible for flexible and full-remote work (telecommuting) based on candidate availability and business needs.
