The Warnell School (www.warnell.uga.edu) is an internationally-acclaimed school with a distinguished history of producing leaders in forestry and natural resource management. The school has strengths in applied ecology, game and nongame management, forest management, forest health, quantitative and decision sciences, and spatial analysis. The Harley Langdale Jr. Center for Forest Business (http://www.ugacfb.com/) is well-known for its Master’s graduate program in forest business with successful alumni employed widely across the North American forestry sector. The center biennially hosts the UGA Timberland Investment Conference which draws attendees from around the world.

Applicants must have an earned Ph.D. in forestry, business, industrial management or related fields.

Position Summary:

This is a 9-month tenured appointment with both research and teaching responsibilities at the rank of Professor in the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources at the University of Georgia. We are seeking candidates with national or international reputations who are committed to excellence in research and instruction in the area of forest business and industrial forestry. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an innovative research program by developing grant proposals, securing research funding, publishing in reputable scientific journals, mentoring graduate students, and actively participating in professional scientific societies. Teaching responsibilities will depend on the selected candidate’s interests and areas of expertise but will include developing and teaching graduate courses in the general area of forest business. Allocation of effort at appointment is expected to be: 53% research, 40% teaching, and 7% professional service.

To be eligible for tenure upon appointment, candidates must have been tenured at a prior institution and bring a demonstrably national reputation to the institution. Candidates must be approved for tenure upon appointment before hire.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification:

Candidates should have a publication record in forest business-related topics that is commensurate with career stage. Preference will be given to candidates with at least one degree in forestry from a program accredited by the Society of American Foresters, professional work experience in the forestry sector, or a record of teaching effectiveness at the university level.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:

Applicants should demonstrate the ability for collaborative research with faculty in Warnell School, across the University and with partners in the forestry sector. Applicants are expected to demonstrate how they would bring current or future externally funded research to the university.
