Position Summary:

Manages the Opportunity Works grant at Prairie State College. Provides guidance to staff and grant participants throughout the advising, career development and job search process.

Reporting and Supervisory Relationships:

Direct reporting relationship to the Executive Director, Workforce Development and Community Education.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Implements the Opportunity Works grant initiative and coordinates all functions related to the grant deliverables ensuring all Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership (The Partnership) program guidelines and expectations are met.2. Oversees scheduling and content for information sessions, intake and eligibility meetings, participant mentor meetings, foundational skills training and ongoing career workshops.3. Prepares and submits proper student, employer and college documentation to The Partnership as required.4. Coordinates all reporting requirements for the grant with the PSC grant accountant and grant administrator.5. Provides leadership and direction to the grant team and supporting partners to ensure participant and program success.6. Organizes team to advise students throughout the career development process, and assists with resume, interview and career readiness skills.7. Collaborates with key stakeholders to execute and deliver the Opportunity Works grant program.8. Coordinates the provision of academic and career advisement, education planning, registration, and case management for students who are participating in the program.9. Supports selection and eligibility requirements for suitable candidates.10. Partners with grant administrator to ensure fiscal responsibility and grant budgeting oversite.11. Works with members of the Career Services Department to advance department-wide projects and assists with related tasks to the grant such as job fairs, seminars and other career events.12. Informs and advises students, staff, businesses, community members and partners regarding the grant goals and objectives.13. Designs and implements career development related workshops and classroom presentations for the college workforce, industry, and community.14. Informs and advises students, staff, businesses, community members and partners regarding the grant goals and objectives. Recommends program policies and coursework to meet student and community needs.15. Monitors and tracks successful grant measures and outcomes.16. Attends conferences, workshops, seminars, and meetings to enhance career development skills pertinent to this positions responsibility in support of the grant.17. Assists the Employer Relations Coordinator(s) and grant team with participant and program success.18. Develops a working knowledge of the grant and college policies, procedures, academic programs, and services.19. Work with program staff to create student academic and career plans for successful participant completion.20. Represents the college on-and off-campus at college/career programs, business, and community-related events.21. Attends conferences, workshops, seminars, and meetings to enhance apprenticeship standards pertinent to this positions responsibility in support of the grant.22. Assesses and provides solutions and referrals to participants’ barriers. Recommends and issues wrap around services (such as transportation and child care assistance) as needed.23. Provides intake, eligibility and case management as outlined by the grant administration.24. Flexible scheduling required, including some evening and weekend hours.25. Performs other duties as assigned that align with the scope of the grant initiative.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

The employee typically works indoors in an environment protected from the weather. With some frequency, travel is required to meet with employers, current and prospective students at a site other than Prairie State College. Physical activities include the ability to carry appropriate recruitment materials sometimes weighing up to 40 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and five years of related experience.2. Experience in grants management and performance outcomes.3. Experience in career advising or related area of higher education.4. Experience working with students with diverse backgrounds.5. Ability to provide for personal travel.6. Demonstrated excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills with solid proficiency with computer software.7. Evidence of commitment and ability to work in teams with ability to maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Graduate degree in student personnel or a related field.2. Career advising experience in a community college setting.3. Management or supervisory experience of at least two years.4. Experience with Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) programs.5. Case management and IWDS data management experience.

Anticipated Work Hours and Days:

30 hours per work week within college operating schedule of 8am-4:30 pm,
Monday thru Friday( or as otherwise dictated by the college)
