Position Summary

The Campus Partners Business Office is a full service business office within the Shared Services Center. The Campus Partners team oversees the business operations of approximately 15 divisions and various centers and institutes across campus. We work closely with division leaders, and their teams, to provide support with regard to financial management, business operations, and human resource administration functions including processing transactions and providing strategic budget guidance. In this role, you will work with a wide variety of units across campus including the Chancellors office, Provost Office, Campus Safety, and University Academic Programs.

Essential Functions

Day-to-Day Operations

  • Assist the Director of Business and Operations in day-to-day management of the department including workload, handling escalated issues from the Business Officer 1s and assisting where needed with the Business Office 1 transactional workload.
  • On consultation with members of the team, work on coordinating ongoing training for new administrative and business coordinators within the divisions.
  • Financial

  • Assists the Director of Business and Operations in current year forecasting and future year budget development.
  • Ongoing support regarding financial and budget issues.
  • Oversight and support of direct pays, journal entries, contracts, purchases orders, invoices, requisitions and any other transactional needs.
  • Coordinate expense/P-Card review and approval.
  • Assist Business Officer 1s with contract review and submission handling more complex contracts and requisition requests.
  • Monitor all current-year activity including keeping detailed records of all of the financial commitments.
  • Gift and Endowment financial management as applicable.
  • Grant financial management as needed.
  • Payroll

  • Support the business officer 1 for Payroll and HR in overseeing accuracy of payroll, position control, and time and attendance.
  • Support other aspects of payroll functions and hiring processes as needed.
  • Division Support

  • Create and enforce deadlines and expectations regarding division deliverables.
  • Coordinate providing monthly reporting and updates to appropriate personnel with budgetary management responsibility.
  • Interpret and implement divisional compliance with all University policies and procedures. In accordance with these policies, developing and implementing divisional policies and procedures as needed.
  • Prepare studies and analysis on salaries, expenses, and other areas.
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrate an ability to expeditiously handle simultaneous requests and work as part of team.
  • Must be able to problem solve, troubleshoot, and prioritize.
  • Knowledge of university accounting systems.
  • Ability to work independently and take the initiative to solve problems and resolve issues on an ongoing basis.
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal, customer service, and oral/written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as budget spreadsheets, grants and contracts.
  • Ability to draft narrative financial reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively university staff and faculty.
  • Ability to oversee, compile, interpret, project, and analyze accounting and financial data.
  • Proven ability to work with a high level of independence, maintain confidentiality, prioritize assignments and division needs
  • Ability to conceptualize, analyze and strategize numerous budgets, financial planning and outcomes as they apply to the financial health of the division.
  • Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree, or equivalent combination or education and experience
  • Minimum of 3 years in business or administration management to include experience in financial management; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Computer literacy and advanced proficiency in Microsoft software applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or related field
  • 5+ years of financial experience
  • Experience working with state, federal and private grants and gifts
  • Knowledge of Banner, Concur, and Kronos
  • Work Schedule
    Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

    Salary Grade Number:
    The salary grade for the position is 11.

    Salary Range:
    The salary range for this position is $68,000 - $75,000.

    The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
