Washington and Lee University invites applications for Assistant Professor of Physical Education/Head Coach of Women’s Soccer.  Founded in 1749, Washington and Lee is a highly selective, residential, co-educational, liberal arts university of 1857 students located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.  The University is a member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and NCAA Division III, sponsoring 24 varsity sports.

This is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track faculty position reporting to the Director of Athletics.  Responsibilities include organizing, developing and administering all phases of the women’s soccer program, including: recruitment, budget management, on-field coaching, and the supervision and mentoring of an assistant coach.  The successful candidate will teach in our required Physical Education program. Candidates must be committed to a philosophy of being an educator, building a successful, respected program, and exhibit a strong commitment toward adhering to the policies and guidelines of Washington and Lee’s Physical Education and Athletics Department, NCAA, and ODAC. Emphasis on academic priorities for student-athletes as well as the importance of good citizenship both on and off the playing field will also be considered.

Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree, five years of college women’s soccer coaching or equivalent is required. A master’s degree and collegiate soccer playing experience is preferred.  Salary will be commensurate with the education and experience of the successful candidate.

The university requires employees to become fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and new employees must provide proof of at least their first shot prior to the first day of employment. Boosters are required. Individuals may seek a medical or a religious exemption to the vaccination requirement.
