Financial AssociateThe Department of Psychology at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications for the Financial Associate position.  This is a non-exempt, full-time staff position.

The Department of Psychology:

The Psychology Department has approximately 110 graduate students in three graduate programs: a basic science program in Experimental Psychology, with concentrations in Cognitive and Development Science, Social, and Neuroscience and Behavior, and two nationally accredited, applied doctoral programs, in Clinical Psychology and in Counseling Psychology.  We also have over 900 undergraduate majors in Psychology.  We award almost 500 undergraduate bachelor's degrees in Psychology annually, almost one fourth of the undergraduate degrees granted by the College of Arts and Sciences.

The Position:

This position will work closely with the Business Manager in all financial and compliance matters in the Department. The Financial Associate is responsible for completing travel requests and expense in Concur, departmental procurement, equipment inventory, and annual space study. This position will also process HR transactions in IRIS such as personnel changes, position changes, and additional pays. The Financial Associate will review and reconcile monthly R WBSE account ledgers and work with the Business Manager on the development of the annual Departmental budget and Grad Student salary budget allocation.



Qualifications
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Department contact for all Concur travel related questions from faculty, students, and Friend/Pending travelers.Provide group or individual training to faculty/graduate students on travel polices/procedures as needed/requested.Act as main procurement officer for Department.Prepare and submit gift card request forms to Budget and Finance for approval.Review, verify, and confirm annual equipment and space inventories.Enter contracts into the Contract Management System.Process personnel changes, terminations, additional/recurring payments, awards, and moving allowances.Serve as hiring manager in Taleo for new Temporary and Regular positions, including assistance with position descriptions.Review, reconcile, and submit general ledger R WBSE accounts (sponsored projects) into the IRIS Electronic Ledger Reconciliation (ELR) transaction each month for approval by PI.Monitor ELR submitted ledgers to ensure fiscal policy approval deadlines are met.Monitor the budget of departmental funds allocated to faculty during the course of the year, tracking expenditures to ensure faculty fund availability supports faculty requests.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

    Associate’s Degree
Experience:

4 years of financial or accounting experience in an academic or business setting

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Knowledge of accounting is necessaryAbility to work with others and/or give directionAbility to manage projects and set prioritiesMust be detail orientedSkills in Microsoft Office and related softwareKnowledge of large platform HR/Financial system, such as SAPExperience managing travel requests and expenses
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience managing travel requests and expenses in Concur
  • Experience with IRIS including HR and accounts payable transactions
  • Ability to integrate and analyze information for the generation of reports
  • Previous accounting experience in departmental setting
