SUMMARY:

The Department of Computer Science & Information Systems at Texas A&M University-Commerce is seeking applicants for non-tenure track Instructor positions to teach courses within the Computer Science and Information Systems program. The position is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track position at the instructor rank beginning Fall 2022. The successful candidates will be required to teach undergraduate courses; advise and mentor undergraduate students; seek to establish industry partnerships; participate in all aspects of the department’s activities; and serve the profession. Faculty at Texas A & M University-Commerce are required to work cooperatively with others, and contribute service to their discipline, the university, and the community.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach undergraduate courses. Areas of teaching assignments may include, but not limited to: Computer Software and Programming; Big data; Artificial intelligence, Computer architecture, and Computer Networks.
  • As needed, assist in the development of new undergraduate courses
  • Establish a network within the regional industry and actively seek industry partnerships
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate students
  • Serve on selected departmental, college and university committees
  • Participate in all aspects of the department’s activities

Faculty are expected to have a current knowledge of the Computer and Information Science profession and related research fields.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: an earned Master’s degree from an ABET accredited U.S. institution with a major field of study in Computer Science, Information Science, or closely related discipline.
  • Fluent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team of professionals. Commitment to high quality teaching. Dedication to high standards and student success.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:

  • An earned Doctorate degree from an ABET accredited U.S. institution with a major field of study in Computer Science, Information Science, or closely related discipline. Relevant experience in Computer Science and Information Science industry
  • Computer Software, Computer Hardware, Cybersecurity, AI, and/or Big Data Experience
  • Higher education teaching experience, including online course development and instruction
  • A record of scholarship; publications, presentations, and grant proposals
  • Experience with working with culturally diverse populations
  • Knowledge of ABET accreditation
