Position Summary

This position will focus applying new and emerging tools such as single-cell sequencing, bulk RNA sequencing, and metabolomics, as well as publicly deposited big data, to characterize the mechanisms of AhR-mediated hepatic oxidative stress and the progression from steatohepatitis to hepatocellular carcinoma. In vivo and in vitro mouse and human models are also used to study the effects of TCDD and related AhR ligands on hepatic gene expression, metabolic flux, oxidative stress, and immune surveillance. The selected candidate will be expected to conduct research as part of a larger team, supervise/train undergraduate and graduate students, prepare research manuscripts, and present their results at scientific meetings. Required Degree

Doctorate -Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Toxicology or a related field.

Minimum Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience with basic molecular biology techniques (e.g. DNA/RNA/Protein extractions, qRT-PCR, westerns/capillary electrophoresis)
  • Evidence of research productivity as determined by their publication record
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
Desired Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the following areas:

  • Animal husbandry and necropsy
  • Primary hepatocyte extractions and cell culture
  • High throughput sequencing (RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, and/or Metagenomics)
  • Mass spectrometry, metabolomics, and flux analysis
  • Flow cytometry
  • Histopathology
  • Bioinformatics and basic programming skills
