General Summary

The School of Music invites applications for an Instructional Assistant Professor in Oboe. This is a 9-month, non-tenure track position to begin August 16, 2022.

Duties: Teach applied oboe to undergraduate and graduate students; conduct weekly masterclass; teach oboe pedagogy and literature; teach oboe in the Double Reed methods course; coach chamber music; perform with the Faculty Woodwind Quintet; actively recruit for the oboe studio; participate in School of Music audition days. Recruitment success may lead to additional FTE appointments. Additional courses may be assigned according to other areas of specialization, such as music theory, musicology, music business, DAW software, and/or general education.

The School of Music prides itself in the individualized attention it provides to its students, who major in music education, music therapy, music performance, music composition, music business, collaborative piano, graduate conducting, and liberal arts. It is housed in the Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts, along with the School of Theater and Dance, the Wonsook Kim School of Art, and the Program in Creative Technologies. The School of Music has an enrollment of 375 music majors (300 undergraduate and 75 graduate students), with 53 full-time faculty and over 40 graduate assistants.

2. State law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position.
