Student Affairs & Inclusive Excellence (SAIE) is the central student affairs division of the University of Denver. SAIE includes Housing and Residential Education, Student Engagement, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Health and Counseling, Inclusion & Equity Education, Disability Services Program, Cultural Center, Access & Transitions, Learning Effectiveness Program, Veterans and Military Resources, Student Outreach and Support, Student Rights & Responsibilities, Budget, Operations and Division Resources, New Student Programs, Parent & Family Engagement, and Community and Driscoll Commons.

Business, Operations, and Division Resources (BODR) 

The budget, operations, and division resources (BODR) team in the Student Affairs and Inclusive Excellence (SAIE) division is in a growth phase! We are building a new team with a more robust portfolio of services to partner with divisional colleagues as they execute their priorities.  

As the operational foundation for the division, the BODR team’s services include:  

  • Budget development, forecasting, and financial modeling  
  • Human resources functions, including consultation and onboarding  
  • Technology acquisition and monitoring 
  • Creation and implementation of divisional guidelines and procedures consistent with University policy and compliance education and monitoring 
  • Effectiveness assessment for SAIE and SAIE departments 

Position Summary

Reporting to the business officer II in the BODR office, the person in this position is a member of the business officer team, whose services provide the operational foundation for Student Affairs & Inclusive Excellence. This position executes financial and human resources transactions critical to programmatic and operational continuity.  

This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.

Essential Functions

  • Completes direct pays, journal entries, contracts, purchases orders, invoices, requisitions, and other transactions 
  • Conducts expense/P-Card review and approval (e.g., for registered student organizations) 
  •  Human Resources and Payroll Processes 
  • Acts as a resource for researching transaction history and prior period data  
  • Supports human resources functions, such as posting positions, hiring, job changes, and separations  
  • Completes human resources and payroll transactions 
  • Executes human resources activities BODR team manages for the division (e.g., on-boarding)  
  • Applies applicable internal control procedures to all work  
  • Assists with development of tools to monitor activity and status; responsible for using these tools to track activity and status and create related reports 
  • Contributes to process improvement activities 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to apply established policies and procedures related to business practices and internal control procedures   
  • Ability to expeditiously handle simultaneous requests and work as part of team  
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal, customer service, and oral / written communication skills  
  • Understanding of business process flow 
  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of diversity, inclusion, and equity through experience and education and the ability to describe the values associated with these principles 
  • Graduation from a four-year college or university and one year of experience in business operations
  • Administration management (including experience in financial and / or budget management and human resources activities) 
  • Two-year degree and two years of experience in business operations or administration management (including experience in financial and / or budget management and human resources activities) or Equivalent combination of training and experience 
  • Experience working in a higher education environment 
  • Knowledge of Banner, Concur, and Kronos  

Required Qualifications

  • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft software applications (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook) 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field and two years of experience in business operations or administration management (including experience in financial and / or budget management and human resources activities) 

Work Schedule

Approximately 3 days a week, 5-7 hours per day. Flexible schedule to be determined with supervisor 

Hourly Range

The hourly range for this position is $22-24.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
