The W. A. Franke College of Business (FCB) at Northern Arizona University (NAU) in Flagstaff, Arizona invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track position as Assistant Professor of Practice in Finance to begin August 2022. The position is a benefit eligible, non-tenure track position for the 2022 – 2023 academic year with renewal, conditional upon teaching performance and availability of funding.

FCB is also committed to serving historically underrepresented students and creating a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and just environment for them.The primary responsibility for this position is providing instruction for FCB’s Financial Planning (FP) and Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) Programs. These programs will be offered in Phoenix, which is one of the top markets in the nation to locate and expand finance and insurance operations. The NAU FP Program is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Board Registered Program.Teaching responsibilities for this position will include coursework necessary for students to sit for the CFP Exam and to complete the FP and RMI Certificates. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to support FP and RMI Programs through activities such as student coaching, mentoring, and advising.Job responsibilities include:
Teaching 12 credit hours (4 classes) of finance courses each semester (Fall and Spring). Providing career advisement to students.Participating in finance area, college, and university service.Engaging in a program of intellectual activities or professional qualification requirements in accordance with FCB and AACSB guidelines.
Graduate degree (Master’s Degree or higher with a concentration in finance related field) from an accredited institution.Minimum five (5) years' professional experience, including upper-level management experience, in finance.2 years’ experience teaching finance at the university level. Ability to meet AACSB academic or professional qualification requirements (as referenced in job description).
Master’s Degree or higher from an AACSB, ABET or EQUIS accredited institution.Willingness and ability to teach Certified Financial Planning and Risk Management/Insurance related courses.Demonstrated excellence in working, teaching and communicating with diverse constituencies.Demonstrated excellence in teaching as documented by a pattern of strong teaching evaluations. Willingness and ability to teach other finance courses as needed. Interest in teaching in collaboration with other business faculty.Evidence of, or potential for, excellence in working with historically underrepresented constituencies. Willingness and ability to cultivate investment and insurance industry contacts to help engage students with professionals.Five (5) years of in-person, blended, and online teaching experience.

Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. You may also be required to complete a fingerprint background check. Finally, each year Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities. This is a Faculty (FAC) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) or the Optional Retirement Program (ORP); sick leave accruals and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified family members. More information on benefits at NAU is available at the NAU HR benefits page. Faculty are hired on a contract basis, renewable according to terms of the Conditions of Faculty Service. Employees offered a position will be eligible for state health plans (including NAU's BCBS Plan). Employees will have 31 days from date of hire to enroll in benefits, and their benefits will then be effective the first day of the pay period following their completed enrollment. If a new employee chooses the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) retirement option, participation in the ASRS Plan (and the long-term disability coverage that accompanies it) will begin on the first of the pay period following 183 days of employment. New employees who choose to participate in the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP; an alternative to the ASRS plan) will begin to participate on the first day of employment. The long-term disability plan that accompanies the ORP will begin on the first day of the pay period following 90 days of employment.
