Visiting Assistant Professor– Gender Studies
The Gender Studies Program at Skidmore College invites applications for a one-year, full-time position as a Visiting Assistant Professor position in an area broadly defined as sexuality studies/LGBTQ studies/ Queer and Trans of Color (QTPOC) studies. We are particularly interested in candidates from under-represented groups who can contribute to our academic community through their teaching, research, and service.
We seek a colleague who can offer introductory, intermediate and advanced-level courses in Gender Studies and feminist theories and methods (especially intersectionality), as well as advanced classes in areas of specialization within sexuality studies/LGBTQ studies/ Queer and Trans of Color (QTPOC) studies. The successful candidate will be able to offer classes that cross-list with the College’s Black Studies program. Teaching load is 5 courses per academic year.
PhD in Gender, Women’s, or Sexuality studies completed or expected by September 2022. Independent teaching experience also required. The application must include a separate statement explaining how the candidate’s teaching interests and pedagogy engage questions of race and culture, and how their courses would foster active learning, critical pedagogy, and social justice. Please provide specific examples.

Pay Range: Commensurate with experience
