- Assist investigators in processing of high-throughput data (NGS sequence, arrays, etc.).
- Supervise analysts to promote workflow and analytics by allocating projects to account for deadlines and collaborative projects.
- Analysis of high-throughput data for: exome, transcription, ChIP, methylation, and similar.
- Integrate and mine diverse biological datasets (e.g., TCGA, 1000 Genomes, etc.).
- Identify and implement bioinformatics tools for the analysis of data, and where none are available, develop custom data analysis tools and workflows.
- Have strong scripting skills (e.g., Perl, Python, Java, etc.) necessary to facilitate the processing of data and or building the tools necessary therein.
- Database construction and management to facilitate clinical diagnostics and patient reporting.
- Use and administer high-performance parallel computing clusters.
- Have a proven track-record of securing extramural funds, either as PI or through significant scientific collaborations (Co-I, consultant, etc.).
- Be a willing problem-solver and team member.
- Research Instructor: $70,000 to $90,000.
- Assistant Research Professor: $70,000 to $90,000.
Qualifications
Minimum RequirementsApplicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.Research Instructor:
- Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years of project or research management experience in a technology- focused role.
- Experience managing cross-functional projects and coordinating support across a variety of IT disciplines (infrastructure, systems administration, software development, etc.).
- Experience managing and maintaining budgets, grants, and other financial records.
- Doctorate Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years of project or research management experience in a technology- focused role.
- Experience managing cross-functional projects and coordinating support across a variety of IT disciplines (infrastructure, systems administration, software development, etc.).
- Experience managing and maintaining budgets, grants and other financial records.
- Must successfully pass a drug test through Children’s Hospital Colorado.
- Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check.
- Qualified applicant will be a Masters’ or PhD level scientist with skills in the genome sciences, at least three (3) years of experience in an academic environment, and strong collaborative skills.
- The successful applicant must have research experience that includes working with scientists in wet labs for obtaining NGS libraries, as well as experience in bioinformatics for processing and analyzing the data.
- S/he will work with an interdisciplinary team of scientists from the SOM, including clinicians, geneticists, and other researchers to support research projects by consulting on the initial experimental design and protocols, processing and analyzing data, as well as assimilating results obtained from cutting-edge genomic technologies.
- Experience working in an academic environment and university-based projects.
- A publication record with preferred history of extramural funding.
- Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience managing or leading an IT team of professionals.
- Experience and demonstrated skill in driving multi-project IT programs to success leveraging industry best-practices project/program tools, techniques, and methodologies.
- Experience with Microsoft development projects and platforms (Microsoft Server, .NET 3.5 or higher, ASP.NET, C#, IIS, SQL Server, etc.).
- Experience with open-source development and platforms (Linux, PHP, Ruby, Apache, MySQL, etc.).
- Experience performing technical business analysis to gather requirements and relay information to technical teams.
- Experience in business analyst role in a technology focused role.
