The School of Medicine IT Shared Services has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) IT Entry Professional (UME Support Specialist) position.

Jobs in this career family develop, maintain, and support computer systems, software and networks.  Functions include enterprise operations, distributed computing, academic computing, research computing, computer hardware and software management, computer networking, telecommunications, systems development, database administration, server administration, website management, programming, desktop support, and help desk operations.

Professionals at the entry level are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field.

At the entry level, duties are limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals and are performed in a training and development capacity.

This position will be a member of a team that is responsible for providing technical and end user support to the Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) department within the Office of Medical Education.

Examples of Work Performed include:

    Technical and end user support for existing UME systems.Supports students use of technology including but not limited to:  in classroom technology, attendance, wireless networking, interfacing with TVs in small group rooms, Poll Everywhere registrationSupports secure electronic exams using Examplify and NBME secure browser on student owned and managed devicesSupports and trains faculty on the use of classroom technology (ex., Panopto lecture capture, Poll Everywhere polling, Sharp digital whiteboard and drawing tools)Collaborates with University Technology Support Services on classroom AV problemsAnswers basic Zendesk questions (ex., Zoom, Panopto, Poll Everywhere, Software access, etc.)Troubleshoots with students/faculty via Zoom or in-person to resolve software issuesOn call for several types of software supportInteracts with users to determine problems, analyze situations, identify the source of problems, determine appropriate solutions and take proper actions required to solve the problemsTroubleshoots networks, systems and applications in order to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

    A bachelor’s degree in computer science, management/computer information systems, computer engineering, information technology, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

Required: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

    Experience providing desktop/network supportExperience working with a wide range of computer network systems including Windows servers and networking applicationsExperience providing technical training and support to end usersExperience working in a higher education environment

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $49,709 to $63,230.  

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
