Administrative Manager, Red House - Georgetown University

Job Overview

The Administrative Manager of the Red House plays a leading role in the administrative and operational management of the Red House (Designing the Future(s) Initiative and the Baker Trust for Transformational Learning, directly supporting the Director of both. They have primary responsibility for managing the day-to-day and long-term personnel/HR and financial processes, communications and marketing, financial partnerships through the Baker Trust, philanthropic processes, office space management, event planning, and travel logistics for staff.

The Administrative Manager works collaboratively with the Red House and Baker Trust teams to complete core administrative functions for the unit, including assisting with HR, finance, and communications for the various projects and initiatives in the Red House portfolio. They also have primary responsibility for managing the Red House's office space, including procuring office supplies and submitting maintenance requests; and serve on an internal Leadership Team to support internal strategic planning processes to enhance operations, communications, and organizational capacity.

Work Interactions

Reporting to Director, the Administrative Manager works closely with the other Red House and Baker Trust staff to complete administrative functions related to specific projects; and interacts t with staff in other curricular and co-curricular units on campus, as well as faculty involved with the Red House's and Baker Trust's curricular pilots. They also maintain relationships with Human Resources, Main Campus Finance Office, and Main Campus Office of Academic Affairs to complete HR and financial transactions; and serve as manager and supervise a team of 10+ undergraduate and graduate student workers on various Red House projects.

  • Bachelor's degree - Master's preferred (conferred or in progress)
  • 2 to 3 years of relevant experience
  • Literacy with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel - and Google Suite applications - e.g., Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Sheets
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with university students, staff, faculty, leadership and external partners
  • Proven organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to take initiative and work under minimal supervision
  • Ability to provide leadership for a small-sized organization
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Interest in innovation, planning and equity issues in higher education landscape
