Position Summary:

The Continuing Education Coordinator performs administrative services for Continuing Education programs and courses at a Community College. The work encompasses such services as assessing public interests in continuing education, course development, publicity, program administration, and program evaluation.

Incumbents must possess the proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Nursing Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field together with two (2) or more years of experience applying those disciplines in a field related to education administration, business or training, and development; or a combination of education, training, and experience that would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties.

Successful Candidate must have or must possess:

  • Experience in training program design in an adult/youth learning environment;
  • Experience in academic and office administration;
  • Experience in marketing, publicity writing, or a related field;

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in higher education or in an adult education environment, preferably with community college programs.
  • Experience determining employment opportunities, and marketing/promoting the College’s students and career preparation programs.
  • Experience assisting students with workforce expectations, conducting training and orientation sessions on techniques to secure appropriate employment.
  • Experience with student information systems (e.g., Banner)
  • Five (5) years of experience applying those disciplines in a field related to education administration, business or training and development 
  • Experience working with other agencies and establishing partnerships. 
Example of Job Duties:

Under the direction of the Dean or other administrator, the incumbent is responsible for the administration of the College’s continuing education programs and courses through effective performance in these essential functional areas: Determining public interests in continuing education and assisting in the design and development of programs and courses; providing services needed to support the operation of the College’s continuing education programs; developing and distributing informational and promotional materials to publicize and market the College’s continuing education programs; and evaluating the effectiveness and appropriateness of the College’s continuing education offerings and for recommending needed improvements.

In addition to the accountabilities listed above, the incumbent is required to carry out the essential duties of: Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies; Service on assigned committees and task forces; Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings.  These may involve attendance at evening or weekend events.

Starting Salary:

$67,587 approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits. Salary Range for this level is $67,587-$122,795
