Position Summary:

The Executive Assistant to the CEO provides to him/her managerial, administrative, professional, and confidential assistance as required to ensure the successful operation of the office and the college. The position is required to have extensive cooperative and collaborative relationships with staff, professionals, administrators, and the public and with professionals in peer organizations and professional associations.

The incumbent is expected to collaborate with all departments and users of the services of the CEO’s office and to represent the Community College System in a positive manner.

Incumbents must possess a proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience in administrative or executive secretarial fields.

Successful Candidate must have or must possess:

  • Ability in the operation of personal computers using standard word processing and related office software.
  • Proven history of strict confidentiality.
  • Experience in principles of secretarial practice with an emphasis on quality production of correspondence and reports.
  • Knowledge of methods and techniques of operating an office environment requiring organizational dignity.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Three (3) or more years’ experience serving as an administrative assistant or higher.
  • Professional work experience in higher education.
  • Experience in event planning (more than 50 people); events and projects within a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate with deans effectively and confidently; cabinet members; faculty; staff; vendors; etc.
  • Experience working independently using initiative and problem-solving skills to complete projects on time with minimal supervision.
  • Experience working with confidential and complex matters for budgeting and personnel.
  • Ability to coordinate and undertake multiple tasks and meetings while managing an office.
  • Advanced experience with office software for scheduling, presenting, reporting, tracking, and communicating.
  • Experience taking minutes in an appropriate format for record of meetings.
  • Has reported to a director, supervisor, or manager in the past.

Under the direction of the Campus CEO, the Executive Assistant is the College and Intra-College Liaison and is accountable for personnel functions, budget preparation, report preparation, office management and organization, coordination of schedules, meetings, conferences, special assignments, or projects.

Starting Salary:

$62,003 to $93,005 approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits. Salary Range for this level is $62,003-$93,005.

Selection Procedure:

Following the closing date, application materials will be evaluated by a selection committee.
