The Department of Human Services in the Dewar College of Education and Human Services seeks applicants for a tenure track, faculty position beginning August 1, 2022. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the candidate’s area of expertise, maintaining scholarly productivity, and participating in service at the department, college, and university levels.

Teaching graduate-level courses in social work, maintaining scholarly productivity, and participating in service at the department, college, and university levels. In addition to teaching, duties include but are not limited to:
Supervising field experiences and clinical practice; Fostering relationships with social workers and agency supervisors across the state and supporting agencies within the region; Mentoring and advising students of diverse cultures and backgrounds.
Typical Allocation of Duties:
Teaching and scholarship - 80%
Teaches classes and conducts/presents research in the employee's academic discipline.
Service - 20%
Participates in service at the department, college, and university levels.
- Ph.D. in Social Work or related field;
- MSW from an accredited CSWE program with a minimum of 2 years post master’s experience;
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, as well as scholarship;
- Commitment to diversity and inclusion.
A record of effective teaching appropriate to the applicant’s career stage; Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting; A record of mentoring students of diverse backgrounds.

Position Requires completion of VSU's Annual Compliance Training course (such as State Business Transactions, Drug Free Workplace, Anti-Harassment Policy, Introduction to Information Security, Workers Compensation, Motor Vehicle Policy, USG Ethics Policy, Conflict of Interest/ Outside Activities Policy, Leave Procedures for Faculty and Staff, Georgia Open Records Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and Contracts 101. Supervisory positions require training in FMLA and Worker's Compensation.
