General Description

The Director is responsible for the development and implementation of a sophisticated strategic enrollment management plan that meets targeted enrollment goals and attracts an exemplary, diverse student body that enhances the reputation of the College.

Experienced and data-driven in approach, the Director will work closely with the Vice President for Enrollment Management, faculty program directors, and College leadership to establish admissions priorities and to develop processes to achieve established goals.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Vice President for Enrollment Management to develop and implement an enrollment management plan and recruitment strategies for the College that includes strategies and objectives for the recruitment of traditional undergraduate, adult undergraduate and graduate students to meet enrollment goals
  • Develop partnerships and collaborations with other departments on campus to focus and coordinate institutional efforts to enhance student recruitment.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, supervising and evaluating the professional staff in Admissions.
  • Directly supervise the Assistant Directors of Admissions, the Assistant Director of Operations, and the Assistant Director of Admissions Data.
  • Regularly participate in admissions events; visit key high schools and community colleges to keep abreast of trends in the student market environment; and cultivate support from counselors and administrators.
  • Responsible for the overall management of the admission budget and monitor expenditures to ensure fiscal responsibility and adherence to College policy.  
  • Reviews undergraduate application process and assumes responsibility for making admission decisions.  
  • In collaboration with VP for Enrollment Management and Executive Director of Marketing, develop, implement, refine, and evaluate a strategic and innovative enrollment plan to achieve short- and long-range enrollment goals. 
  • Work with collaboratively with the Marketing Office to develop and schedule all admissions marketing plan including mailings and electronic communication.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Financial Aid to implement and manage the financial aid process for incoming students. 
  • Maintain operational calendar that allocates staff appropriately for a high volume office and that ensures good customer service  
  • Possess knowledge of admission information technology, including prospect management, student information systems, and report generation tools. To become proficient in the use of Slate and Jenzabar (SIS) and ensure the effective use of both systems. 
  • Primary representative on the College’s Recruitment, Admissions and Retention Committee.
  • Oversee the coordination of all on campus events and daily campus visitation programs.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master’s degree preferred, with 4-7 years' experience in undergraduate or graduate school admissions. 
  • Prior supervisory experience; ability to build and manage a team.
  • Proven track record of achieving enrollment objectives in a higher education setting. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to developing an inclusive and diverse student population. 
  • A strategic thinker who understands the nuances of admissions and financial aid to achieve success. 
  • Demonstrated data analytic experience to inform strategic and tactical plans for enrollment management.
  • Superior presentation skills, including the presence to engage effectively with potential students and families, academic leaders, faculty, senior administrators and executives, alumni, etc.
  • A communication style that is open, warm, and compelling.

Founded by the Sisters of Saint Dominic in 1960, the Mount has been an academic presence here in Newburgh since 1883. The college's roots in education, and in the training of educators, go even further back to the 14th century and Saint Dominic.

Location. Newburgh, New York. The Mount is conveniently located in the Mid-Hudson Valley, midway between New York City and New York's capital city, Albany. The Mount is in Newburgh in Orange County, New York, on a beautiful campus that overlooks the western banks of the Hudson River. It's less than a mile from the intersection of the New York State Thruway and Interstate 84, and just a few blocks from entrance to the Newburgh side of the Beacon-Newburgh Bridge. The Mount is also easily accessible by plane, with Stewart Airport just minutes from campus. The Mid-Hudson Valley offers a scope of unparalleled natural beauty in a landscape of mountains, river and forest. Hiking, biking, walking, swimming, mountain climbing, skiing, snowboarding, and our park activities offer so many ways to explore the natural environment.

Enrollment/Student Body Profile. Our student body is made up of 2,700+ students representing over 16 states and several countries. 1,800 are traditional undergraduate students.

Academic Programs. The Mount offers 50 undergraduate programs leading to a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. Our collaboration programs offer you a chance to earn a bachelor's degree, plus an advanced degree with schools like Fordham University, Pace University, and New York Medical College. The college also offers master's degrees in education, business, and nursing.

Faculty. Students learn from our faculty, the majority of whom hold a Ph.D. or the highest terminal degree in their field. Our Student/Faculty Ratio is 17 students:1 faculty member.

Athletic teams. The Mount offers Men's Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Lacrosse, Soccer, Swimming, Tennis, and Track and Field, and Women's Basketball, Cross Country, Lacrosse, Soccer, Softball, Swimming, Tennis, Track and Field, and Volleyball.
