The Director of Student Support is a key campus leader in creating and guiding a holistic effort to support the health, well-being, and success of Puget Sound students. Collaborating with partners campus wide, the Director will provide leadership for the Division of Student Affairs in the area of student support to include leadership of the CARE Team, direct support and wellness initiatives as well as systemic efforts to effectively educate and prevent sexual misconduct at Puget Sound. This position is responsible for the successful implementation of the goals and strategies in their area while remaining true to the mission and vision of the department including a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and assessment. This position will particularly work with colleagues in the Dean of Students Office; Academic Advising; Counseling, Health, and Wellness Services (CHWS); and the University Chaplaincy. Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Care Team (50%)
- Develop and manage vision, and provide leadership for, university wide CARE team and facilitate CARE team meetings.
Provide in-person, front-line case coordination for students experiencing challenges at Puget Sound.Connect with students for individual support and engagement in collaboration with the Student Alert Group (and other Student Support/Student Success mechanisms on campus).Appropriately refer and guide students to other on-campus resources as necessary.Partner with the Office of the Chaplaincy, CHWS, the Office of the Registrar, and Academic Advising to support or direct the process for various types of leave/withdrawal.
- Partner with the Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity to maximize and coordinate support for minoritized and underrepresented students.Represent Student Affairs on the Academic Standards Committee.
Sexual Assault Survivor Education & Support (25%)
- Create and implement opportunities for collaboration with students, staff and faculty to enhance or develop educational and training programs and other initiatives that increase awareness of sexual assault and power-based personal violence, including but not limited to:
- Oversee the evaluation and assessment of prevention programming
- Develop and implement campus-wide programming in conjunction with the BRAVe Coordinator (i.e., Take Back the Night)
- Sexual misconduct education with the Title IX office
- Provide advising and support to Peer Allies, BRAVe, and similar sexaual assault support, education, prevention student groups on campus
- Manage outreach and awareness programs (Peer Allies, BRAVe) that focus on peer-to-peer relationships, mentoring and leadership development
- Co-Chair the University-wide Sexual and Gender Violence Committee
- Provide support and service to students who experience sexual misconduct
- Create and manage assessment of student learning related to sexual assault prevention and education and other programmatic responsibilities.
Administration and Supervision (20%)
- Supervise three professional staff: Assistant Director of Student Support, Student Resource Coordinator, and administrative staff member
- Supervise BRAVe Coordinator, and provide secondary supervision to Direct Student Support student staff members
- Manage a communication plan for Student Support that includes up to date website, brochures regarding policy and procedure as well as publicity for prevention education programming
- Develop and manage a vision for the Center for Student Support

Budget Responsibilities Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Student Development Administration, Student Personnel, Higher Education, Social Work or related field and 5 years of Student Affairs experienceKnowledge of programs and resources that address the prevention of sexual violence including Title IX compliance issues for colleges and universities Trained in sexual assault advocate core training or able to become trained within 30 days of hireMust possess strong listening and empathy skillsAbility to advise students individually and in groups on routine and sensitive mattersMust possess strong conflict resolution skillsAbility to think and plan creativelyAbility to manage multiple tasksKnowledge of myriad technology systems including word processing, desktop publishing, website creation, and database managementAbility to develop and implement training and educational programs to small and large groupsAbility to work flexible hours and weekends Compensation and Benefits
