Organizational Unit Overview:

Information Technology and Computing Services (ITCS) is the central agency that supports enterprise-wide computing at East Carolina University. Through innovative information technology initiatives and service, ITCS provides opportunities for the ECU community to excel in teaching, research, and service using state-of-the-market technology and collaborative environments. ITCS is first and foremost committed to providing excellent information technology support for faculty, staff, and students. ITCS partners with campus departments, other universities, and industry to make strategic investments in information technology infrastructure that will help maintain a competitive advantage in administrative applications, faculty research, and outreach to the state and nation. We will achieve this through increasing the core functions and deploying appropriate technology throughout the university.

The Enterprise Information Systems (EIS) Support and Maintenance team is a major division of ITCS that maintains administrative computer applications for the university. Programming specialists, analysts and technicians support the University ERP System, Ellucian Banner, and various interfacing systems used by administrative offices across the campus such as Finance, Human Resource and Payroll, Student, and University Advancement areas.

Job Duties :

This IT Analyst/Programmer position serves on the EIS Support and Maintenance team as a technical resource for support and maintenance of integrations with the Banner ERP system and other university systems. This position performs the most complex analytical and programming activities associated with the supporting these systems and interfaces. This position is also responsible for providing technical consultation to other applications programming analysts, project leaders, managers, departments, faculty, and related university personnel and organizations. This position must also perform work responsibilities with minimum technical supervision. This position may also function as the top-level technical contributor in one or more of the most highly specialized phases of applications systems analysis and programming. This position must perform design, analysis and high-level programming associated with maintenance, modifications, and enhancements to existing administrative applications and use a variety of development tools to provide update and inquiry access to academic and administrative data residing in various databases. The position requires the ability to work with large sophisticated applications. This position is responsible for meeting with management to define and design ways to update applications to meet ongoing changing requirements of the entire university. This position must also investigate and become an expert in ‘new technologies’ with the intent of implementation as well as to provide training to other team members and be a source for the developed standards pertaining to these technologies.

Employees are required to adjust their standard work schedule to meet the requirements of their position, which includes and not limited to evening and weekend hours to perform scheduled and unscheduled workload requirements to maintain University operations.
This position may be eligible for Flexible Work Arrangements (FWA) under the ECU FWA Policy.

Minimum Education/Experience :

Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation :

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education :

* Knowledge of the following environments, languages, and tools: Oracle, Ellucian Banner, SQL, PL/SQL, Java, cloud REST API, Broadcom Automation (UC4, AppWorx, Automic), Unix/Linux shell scripting, GIT/GitHub, TOAD, SQL Developer.
* A technical understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), Enterprise-wide (ERP) Administrative systems, ETL process creation and documentation.
* Working knowledge of Linux and Windows-based operating systems.
* Responsible for maintaining a high level of professionalism.
* Ability to continually learn new technologies and mentor junior team members.
* Collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders to gather and explain business requirements.
* Work independently and in a collaborative team environment. * Ability to multi-task and set task priorities when having multiple high priority tickets.
* Maintain and update documentation as needed.
* Ability to work independently and communicate regular status updates to leadership.
* Strong customer-focused support skills.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
