Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship

The Robert W. Plaster College of Business at Missouri Southern State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor or Master Instructor position in Entrepreneurship, depending on credentials, beginning fall 2022. Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) is a four-year liberal arts institution serving approximately 4,500 students. Expanding graduate and undergraduate programs provide faculty with rich opportunities for service and scholarship. Internationally-focused semesters and enriching cultural events in theater, art, music, and film create an engaging learning environment for students and citizens of the region.

The Plaster College of Business (PCB) is accredited by ACBSP and is actively pursuing AACSB accreditation with 20 full-time tenured/tenure track faculty serving approximately 900 students. The PCB currently offers one graduate program: Master of Science in Management. Undergraduate programs include Accounting, Finance, Management, HR Management, Marketing, and International Business. In addition, certificates are available in Entrepreneurship and Management. The Small Business Development Center is also housed within the Plaster College of Business.

Candidates for the Assistant Professor position will possess an earned doctorate by no later than August 1, 2022 in a related field from a regionally accredited institution (ABD candidates can be considered for a visiting position). Candidates for the Master Instructor position will possess at least a Master’s degree in a related discipline The Plaster College of Business is seeking a qualified individual to teach a variety of undergraduate entrepreneurship classes which may include some combination of the Managerial Accounting for New Ventures, Small Business Management, Financial Management for New Ventures, Ideation and Innovation, New Venture Planning and Entrepreneurship Analysis. A secondary teaching area in International Business and/or Management would be viewed favorably.

Instructional delivery may occur through traditional, on-line, and alternative instructional methods. The successful candidate will maintain excellence in teaching; engage in an active program of scholarship that results in quality, peer reviewed journal articles; participate in university and community service; and student advisement. Demonstrated ability to work with and/or knowledge of diverse populations is preferred. Related business experience is also desirable. Voluntary summer contracts may be available.
