Job Description Summary:Incumbent will provide support to the Principal Investigator, and will be responsible for supporting our laboratory staff with the primary goal of optimizing experiments and succeeding in producing reliable studies. The Technician should have some in vivo mouse and histology experience and will participate in an Alzheimer’s disease related research project. Successful candidate will assist with in vivo rodent experiments in mouse models, perform cell culture studies, perform imaging, image quantification, and analyze and present data. Candidate will need to be methodical when carrying out duties and generate reports to submit to the relevant laboratory managers/PI.
Responsibilities:Under PI (Principal Investigator)’s supervision:
- Assist research staff in the laboratory.
- Be able to work individually and with a scientific team.
- Able to perform laboratory experiments in line with standard protocols.
- Record all experimental observation, collect data and test results accurately and in a specified format.
- Set up and perform experiments, make experimental observations, and discuss and interpret findings results verbally and in writing.
- Perform histology, confocal microscopy, mouse behavior analysis, data analysis and presentation.
- Assist with mouse studies
- Order, maintain and organize laboratory supplies.
- Procure, receive, label, and/or maintain chemicals or laboratory supplies.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Proven experience working as a lab technician
- Bachelor’s Degree in biology, chemistry, or a related field
- Proficient in research methods, testing and data collection, analysis, evaluation, report writing, independent discretion and judgment
- Comfortable handling potentially dangerous substances (flammable liquids, biohazards, etc.)
- Ability to work autonomously and in a timely manner to meet deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in histology, confocal microscopy, mouse behavior analysis
- Experience in mouse handling, mouse injections, blood collection
- Mouse brain sectioning, ELISA, immunostaining
May require some evening and weekend hours
