Job Description:

The leave manager is responsible for all leave operations including implementation, administration, and communication regarding the universities leave programs. The leave manager ensures that plans are administered consistent with UF objectives and strategy. This position ensures compliance with federal, state and all other applicable regulations or Collective Bargaining Agreements. The leave manager is a strategic partner and contributor in the administration of leave programs for the university. This position will oversee the UF Sick Leave Pool and Aid-A-Gator programs.

Responsible for counseling faculty and staff regarding their rights and responsibilities when taking leave protected under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).Review and evaluate confidential medical documentation, and independently judge whether or not the information provided meets the criteria established by federal law, or whether further information and clarification is needed from a healthcare provider, benefits administrator or employee relations.
Advises employees and departments regarding decisions and appropriate actions or additional documentation required to ensure university compliance. Collaborate with other human resource areas to ensure employees receive pay and benefits to which they are entitled while on or returning from leave.
Responsible for maintaining accurate and updated records. Actively participates in the development, update, and presentation of training programs. Manages the leave of absence process for employees of the university. Responsible for advising employees and/or departments regarding continuation of benefits during an approved leave of absence. Coordinates with employees and vendors regarding any payment issues that arise.

Serves as the subject matter expert for leave programs in alignment with the university’s benefits leadership and legal department. Provides expertise and guidance in the creation and facilitation of leave administration programs. Actively participates in the development, update, and presentation of training programs, working with the Director of Benefits and Training & Organizational Development team for UF Leave Policy class sessions.

Responsible for ensuring all STD and LTD claims are coordinated with FMLA or general medical cases. Timely filing in Disability claims, both State and UF offered.

Expected Salary:

$70,000

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
