- Collaborate with and support the Metabolomics Core Manager and Director and other stakeholders with laboratory and research functions
- Utilize a variety of laboratory techniques required for research projects, with an emphasis on liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry
- Perform experiments and tabulate and analyze research
- Acquire and analyze proteomics data
- Prepare report of quantitative findings including statistical analysis
- Maintain laboratory research records of all experiments performed
- Dissemination of results and assisting in generating publications
- Oral and written presentation of technical results
- Meet with clients (faculty, students, and researchers) to present results of technical analyses
Qualifications
Minimum QualificationsEntry Level
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related fieldA combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related fieldA combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis
- Master’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related fieldOne (1) to two (2) years’ experience or background within an experimental or wet labPrior experience in analytical chemistry, especially ultra-high pressure liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry
- Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniquesAbility to communicate effectively, both in writing and orallyAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institutionOutstanding customer service skillsKnowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology medical terminologyAbility to interpret and master complex research protocol information
