The University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education & Hotel is hiring motivated, dependable, and team-orientated individuals for jobs that advance UGA’s mission of Public Service and Outreach. The Georgia Center, located on campus across from Stegeman Coliseum, is the campus hub for the development and administration of non-credit professional and continuing education courses as well as home of the only on-campus hotel.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

5-10 years of progressive marketing and communications experience preferred (marketing, advertising, public relations, journalism, broadcasting or a related field of work)
Masters preferred; Bachelors degree required with major course work in related curriculum;
Professional experience with managing social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn
Experience developing a marketing or communication plan
Experience with email marketing
Strong organizational skills required
Strong writing/proofreading experience
Experience in client services desired

Position Summary:

This management position leads a strategic department for the Georgia Center focused on brand development and management, growth, outreach, and enrollment. This manager supervises a team of four professionals focused on the many elements in marketing and communications and serves five primary client groups and their programmatic/operational goals:

  1. Continuing Education
  2. Group Sales for conferences, meetings, and events
  3. Auxiliary revenue growth through hotel and food consumer transactions
  4. Internal Georgia Center (employee recruitment/retention/communications)
  5. External fundraising
In addition, this leader engages with two external marketing agencies in support of these client groups. Each client group has an internal collaborator(s) that work closely with the manager and their team. Manager is responsible for project management and prioritization across the client groups. This marketing and communications department engages in simultaneous campaigns and utilizes a wide variety of channels for their efforts. An extremely high level of communication skills is needed within this position for collaboration, planning, project management, supervision, operations, and evaluation.

This position is instrumental in the communications, planning, and execution of public relations communications, and marketing campaigns for the Center for Continuing Education and Hotel. Written & digital communication, editing, and environmental awareness are essential components of this role.

  • Ability to develop engaging and impactful story content
  • Ability to write and edit using AP style
  • Familiarity with photography and/or videography best practices
  • Strong organizational skills and project management experience
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to use discretion with confidential information
  • Ability to collaborate with team members and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Experience with email marketing platforms (example: Constant Contact)
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) preferred
  • Familiarity with website database management
  • Experience with social media content management, including content creation, scheduling, and analytics
  • Proficient in typical office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams,etc.)

Physical Demands:

Standard for office environment such as sitting for long hours and working in front
of computer. Standing when exhibiting, walking, carrying boxed up to 25lbs.

Serves as the Georgia Center’s marketing and communications strategist, developing and managing all marketing and communications campaigns and manages four staff positions engaged in operational execution of the campaigns.

Oversees the management, creation, and development of both print and digital marketing content including, but not limited to, digital media, special publications, brochures, advertisements, and promotional items. Manages the overall design, content, updates, and maintenance of the Georgia Center website.
