Position Purpose:

Teach the next generation of designers and engineers how to turn ideas they imagine into real products. Join our team of Technical Instructors to create and support our maker workshops, where designers and engineers make the products of the future.

Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp:

Associates or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Our ideal technical instructor is a natural hands-on teacher and has, or aspires to gain, exceptional engineering skills such as:

  • A broad and deep understanding of techniques of mechanical design and analysis.
  • A deep skill set in solid modeling CAD such as SolidWorks.
  • A wide knowledge of manufacturing techniques including CAD/CAM, CNC machining and 3D printing, and of the engineering applicability of various materials.
  • A desire and agility for learning new techniques.
  • Exceptional communication and collaborative skills.
  • Physical agility to configure and move around machinery and students and to hear and be heard over the commotion of a busy workshop.

Minimum Experience:
  • A portfolio of products and projects demonstrating breadth in engineering and teaching experience.
  • Familiarity with workshop and/or makerspace tools and solid modeling CAD.
  • Experience in a teaching role helping others to increase their competency in the use of equipment using best instructional design practices.

Minimum Education:
  • Associates Degree in technical, engineering, science, or studio art, or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
