Jobs in this career family provide direct professional support for the teaching and/or educational service mission of the university. Functions include academic advising/counseling, student personnel administration, recruitment and admissions, registration, financial aid, faculty affairs, library services, curriculum administration, and others involving direct support of the educational mission of an academic unit.

Intermediate Professional: Responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field. At the intermediate level, duties may be more limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals.

Senior Professional: Responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field.  Work is performed fully independently.

Nature of Work:
The Office of International Affairs (OIA) serves the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus (CU Denver) and community by facilitating the goals of promoting international education, intercultural exchange, and diversity. The International Recruitment and Marketing Coordinator advances the university’s strategic enrollment priorities via a variety of internationalization initiatives related to international student recruitment and admissions. This position will also serve as a liaison to OIA Marketing & Communications, International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS), the ESL Academy, the Graduate School, and Office of Undergraduate Admissions to ensure that international students experience a smooth admission process and warm welcome to CU Denver.  

Supervision Received: Under the supervision of the Director of International Enrollment Management, this position is a member of the International Admissions (IA) team focused on marketing to and recruitment of and enrollment of international undergraduate, graduate, and ESL Academy students.

Examples of Work Performed:

International Student Recruitment: 

  • Actively recruits international students to attend CU Denver via international and domestic travel, as well as remote recruitment events, in accordance with annual recruitment goals and strategy.
  • Plans and executes annual in-person and virtual student recruitment activities in accordance with agreed recruitment market strategies and allocated recruitment budget. This includes vetting, scheduling, preparing materials, budgeting, staffing coverage, tracking, and reporting.
  • Cogently and successfully promotes CU Denver in a variety of settings and to various markets. 
  • Processes leads from virtual and in-person events; creates and delivers event follow-up mailings.
  • Provides support and guidance to academic units regarding effective international recruitment strategies in conjunction with, or in addition to current outreach methods. 
Additional Duties for Senior Level:

  • Seeks, evaluates, and recommends opportunities for recruitment via relevant and effective modalities in each global market. 
  • Continually assesses the effectiveness of recruitment modalities and markets by gathering and analyzing relevant data; working with the Director of International Enrollment Management to present information related to return on investment (ROI) statistics.
Marketing, Social Media, and Communication Strategy:

  • Manages International Admissions (IA) social media accounts, including development and execution of content strategy, goals and metrics, calendar, and content creation. 
  • Plans and executes paid social media marketing, including liaising with school and college partners, developing goals, strategy, and content, and managing leads and evaluating ROI. 
  • Assist the OIA Director of Marketing & Communication with the development and design of print and digital materials. 
  • Manages selection, design, procurement, and distribution of “swag” promotional items. 
  • Runs specific marketing campaigns as needed to promote specific topics such as IA recruitment scholarships. 
  • Assists the International Enrollment Operations Manager with IA website management and updates and drip marketing mailing sequence for prospects. 
  • Creates and designs content for virtual and in-person recruitment events, including copy, presentations, flyers, videos, and more. 
Additional Duties for Senior Level:

  • Proactively researches trends in the field of higher-education and digital marketing, with knowledge sharing to the unit, suggests improvements to overall IA content and communication strategy. 
Agent Management:

  • Manages CU Denver’s relationships with international recruitment agents: includes vetting and onboarding of new agents, targeted communications, in-person and online trainings, application inquiries, reporting, invoicing, and contracts.
  • Prepares and executes timely and accurate payment of agent commissions for successfully enrolled students.
Additional Duties for Senior Level:

  • Establishes and tracks goals, expectations, and metrics for agent performance. 
  • Annually evaluates agent performance and recommends appropriate action regarding agent contracts.
Customer Service and Admissions Processes for International Students:

  • Advises and counsels prospects, applicants, and admitted students on university admission and enrollment policies and procedures via email, phone, and in-person and virtual advising appointments. 
  • Processes student applications and evaluates foreign academic credentials, as necessary, according to established CU Denver procedures and recognized best practices.
  • Liaises with others within and outside OIA, especially other admissions offices and International Marketing and Communications to address admissions-related needs and requests.
  • Communicates in a clear, professional, and timely manner with a variety of audiences to provide excellent customer service.
  • Completes daily administrative tasks such as daily communications activities, foreign credential evaluations, and admission processes in a timely, professional manner. 
Office Administration:

  • Maintains complete, accurate and accessible records and process maps to ensure that information is available, correct, and communicable as needed.
  • Manages a recruitment budget and completes all necessary fiscal reporting and reconciliation requirements in a thorough and timely manner.
Additional Duties for Senior Level:

  • Assists with the utilization of qualitative and quantitative data to evaluate recruitment initiatives and guide decision making.
Organizational Development/Growth (Senior Level):

  • Takes proactive action and positive posture with the Director of International Enrollment Management to implement international recruitment strategies in coordination with relevant University stakeholders.
  • Proactively conducts environmental scanning, particularly of the institution, world and market trends, and the field of international admissions with knowledge sharing to the unit. 
Additional Responsibilities:

  • Hires, trains, and supervises a student assistant dedicated to supporting international marketing and student recruitment activities.
  • Contributes to CU Denver and Strategic Enrollment and Student Success priorities by serving on standing or ad hoc committees, task forces, etc. as appropriate.
  • The position will be required at times to participate in professional activities on weekends and evenings outside of the established workday. This includes up to 25% time out of the office for domestic and international travel.
  • Envisions and executes additional duties and projects with or without specific assignments.
Salary and Benefits:
The hiring range for an Intermediate Appointment has been established at $36,99 - $47,055, and the Senior Appointment has been established at $39,993 - $50,676.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is no eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications (Intermediate Level):

  • Bachelor’s degree in international education, international business, marketing, communication, international affairs, international relations, or a related field.
  • 1 year of experience working in an academic or student-focused office environment.
  • Personal or professional experience traveling internationally. 
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Minimum Qualifications (Senior Level):

  • Bachelor’s degree in international education, international business, marketing, communication, international affairs, international relations, or a related field.
  • 2 years of experience working in an academic or student-focused office environment. 
  • Personal or professional experience traveling internationally.

Condition of Employment (All Levels):

  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, including the ability to obtain relevant international travel documents.
  • Must be a Citizen or Permanent Resident of the US to comply with Department of State and Department of Homeland Security requirements for authorization as Alternate Responsible Officer and Designated School Official for the University of Colorado Denver’s J-1 and F-1 programs, respectively.
Preferred Qualifications (All Levels):

  • 2 years of experience working with international students, or in a university admissions or international affairs office.
  • Fluency in a foreign language, preferably Arabic, Portuguese, Spanish, or Vietnamese.
  • Experience living, working and/or studying abroad.
  • Experience giving presentations both in-person and online.
Competencies/Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to conduct presentations to a wide range of populations.
  • Ability to speak in front of crowds and cameras for recruitment fairs, webinars, virtual presentations, and social media initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability communicating to a wide array of international cultures through a variety of different mediums and platforms.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills with an eye for detail.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal relations skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with prospective students, continuing students, parents, alumni, office colleagues, and other University administrators. 
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to diverse constituents.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with overseas advising and promotional channels, e.g. EducationUSA, international recruitment agents, etc.
  • Working knowledge of US undergraduate and graduate admission processes.
