Description:

The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at Washington and Lee University invites application for a two-year Visiting Assistant Professor in Chinese Language and Literature, beginning July 1, 2022. This position carries a six-course teaching load distributed over Fall and Winter terms (12 weeks each) and the university’s signature 4-week Spring Term. A successful candidate will contribute to the diverse and inclusive undergraduate curriculum in the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures through teaching and service.

Qualifications:

Candidates should have a Ph.D. (or ABD status near completion) in pre-modern Chinese literature or related fields, native or near-native fluency in both standard Mandarin and English, demonstrated success in teaching at the collegiate level in the U.S., and ability to teach Chinese language courses at all levels and content courses in pre-modern Chinese literature and culture.
