The Department of Educator Preparation and Leadership at the University of Missouri-St. Louis invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor committed to improving the field of Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics Education locally and nationally. This position is a benefits-eligible, full-time, tenure-track, nine-month academic appointment in the College of Education with an anticipated start of August 2022. The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in at least one of the following fields: engineering, mathematics, science, technology.

Salary: Competitive and commensurate with rank, experience, and qualifications.

Appointment: Tenure-track, nine-month appointment beginning August 2022.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish/continue a productive research program in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics education that results in scholarly publications.
  • Coordinate and instruct teacher education courses at the undergraduate and master levels as well as courses in the Ph.D. and Ed.D programs.
  • Advise, supervise, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Contribute to a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students, staff, and faculty.
  • Contribute to a vibrant education program that is rising in stature and productivity.
  • Encourage the development of a workforce inclusive of those underrepresented, currently, in STEM fields.

Required Qualifications:

  • A completed doctorate in mathematics education, science education, STEM education or a closely related field by appointment.
  • At least 3 years classroom teaching in a PK-12 setting or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to serving diverse populations.
  • Experience in an active research agenda and/or securing external funding.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with mathematics, one of the sciences (e.g., biology, physics, chemistry, Earth science), computational thinking skills, computer science, OR any combination of the STEM content areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate technology into teaching, including experience teaching online courses.
  • Research experience in the field of education.
  • Experience in collaborative curricular and program development.
  • Experience of successful teaching in higher education, including curriculum courses.
  • Interested in a collaborative effort to support a STEM concentration in the Master of Education program or STEM Ed.D cohorts
