Tenure-Line -- Associate or Full Professor, Department of Oncology - Georgetown University Medical Center
Georgetown University: Medical Center: School of Medicine: Oncology

Location: Washington, DC
Open Date: Feb 24, 2022
Deadline:

Description
The Georgetown University Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center and School of Medicine are pleased to announce an opportunity for an established investigator in cancer epidemiology to serve as co-leader of the Cancer Prevention and Control Program. This full time, tenure line faculty position at the Associate or Full Professor level will be appointed in the interdisciplinary Department of Oncology, and accompanied by a significant package of resources to support research.

The Cancer Prevention and Control Program has three overarching and interrelated foci: 1) identifying novel cancer risk factors and biomarkers, 2) optimizing prevention and screening efforts, and, 3) improving outcomes of cancer treatment and survivorship. Cross-cutting themes include promoting cancer health equity, translating genomics to the broader public, the use of simulation modeling to inform cancer policy, and cancer and aging. A federally-funded center on tobacco product regulation is co-located in the program. In addition, program faculty hold key instructional and leadership roles in the Master of Science program in Epidemiology offered through the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.

The role of the research program leader is to provide overall direction for the scientific, policy, and programmatic issues relating to the program and work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary group to expand the program's research in cancer control and prevention.

Qualifications
Successful candidates will have a doctoral degree in epidemiology or a medical or professional clinical research doctorate, and a primary focus on cancer research. Applicants are required to have a track record of peer-reviewed funding and publications relevant to cancer, and to currently hold R01-level cancer-focused research funding.

Expertise in cancer epidemiology, biomarkers, disparities, and/or health services research is especially desirable along with evidence of leadership potential and demonstration of commitment to diversity and inclusion through research, teaching, and/or service. All applicants will be carefully screened and considered at Associate or Full Professor level.
