The Assistant Director for Assessment & Operations is a full-time, twelve-month, exempt position reporting to the Associate Director for Residence Life. The Assistant Director for Assessment & Operations works closely with other professionals in the administration and management of a comprehensive housing and residence life program that serves 5700+ on-campus students. This position has the responsibility for general administrative oversight and management of assessment planning, implementation, and operational processes for housing and residence life.

Master’s Degree with concentration in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Facilities Management, or related field.
A minimum of four years of full-time experience working in Housing and Residential Programs (Residence Life).

- Knowledge of best practices in higher education. - Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. - Demonstrated ability in program development, management, and assessment knowledge and skills. - Demonstrated ability in staff supervision and development. - Demonstrated ability in student conduct adjudication. - Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of concepts of college student development. - Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse campus community and foster inclusivity pertaining to diversity education. - Experience in planning and implementing meaningful learning experiences with faculty and students. - Ability to communicate with a variety of constituents, both verbally and in writing. - Ability to articulate the role that residence halls play in supporting retention and the overall academic mission of the University. - Ability to problem-solve, critically think and analyze complex issues while effectively planning and organizing work. - Ability to organize workflow and coordinate projects within office and with other departments. - Ability to interpret policy and procedures established within Housing and Residence Life - Ability to work weekends and evenings as assigned.

Assessment and Operations

- Responsible for leadership and development of assessment strategies for departmental processes including but not limited to trainings, services, initiatives, and programs.
- Responsible for implementing a yearly assessment plan for residence life.
- Educate and train staff on creating a culture of practice about assessment.
- Coordinate and implement opening and closing processes, procedures, and programs.
- Collaborate with campus partners on admissions events (SOAR, Transfer events, etc.)
- Coordinate summer conference operations (SCA’s, Desk, SOAR, etc.)
- Lead yearly review of operations manuals and processes.
- Department liaison to Roompact.

Supervision and Leadership

- Supervise, train, and evaluate 3-4 full-time, live-in, master’s level coordinators for residence Life.
- Articulate vision, mission, and goals for the area, department, and division.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and assessment of departmental goals and initiatives.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with staff.
- Provide appropriate referrals to other university departments/resources as needed.
- Oversee department committees.
- Serve on an on-call duty rotation for 5,700 residents.

- Assist in the overall direction and strategic planning of short- and long-term goals of Residence Life.
- Maintain accurate accounting of allocated funds and expenditures.
- Work cooperatively with other staff members, departments, and offices across the University to foster strong partnerships.

- Serve as a representative of Housing and Residence Life on various departmental, divisional, and university committees.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director or Executive Director of Housing and Residence Life.
