Posting Summary:

Serve as Head Coach of the UVM Sailing Team (a Club Sport recognized by the Student Government Association). Lead and manage the intercollegiate club sport of Sailing within the educational mission of the University, Department of Student Life, and Student Government Association. Provide for the education of club student-athletes in the value of sport and the preparation to compete successfully in Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA). Responsible for practice and game preparation, athlete evaluation, hiring and supervision of part time temporary employee assistant coaches, risk management, student leadership development, and adherence to the rules of ICSA, the University, and SGA. Serve an active role in recruiting, financial planning, development, and public relations. Report to the Assistant Director for Club Sports. Demonstrate commitment to issues of social justice and diversity and embody the University’s common ground.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience):

Bachelor’s degree and one to three years of related experience required. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and motivate employees/students required. Effective computer skills required. Demonstrated ability to communicate and work successfully with diverse populations including students, students of color, faculty, administrators, staff, and community members required. Must be US Sailing Level 1 Certified.

Desirable Qualifications:

Familiarity with University policies, standards, and procedures in related areas desirable. Familiarity with collegiate sailing programs is desirable.
