Anticipated Hiring Range

$2,912.00 per month @ 0.48 FTE ($34,944.00 annually @ 0.48 FTE)

Position Summary

STARTALK is a federal funded program under the National Security Agency within the Graduate College of Education. The Project Coordinator will report to the Project Director. The Project Coordinator is a key member and supports the success of the Program. The Project Coordinator will develop and oversee key components of the STARTALK Pilot Program such as the pre and post camp activities, two-week summer residential program and curriculum development. Key initiatives are the development of the pre and post camp activities, summer camp for the 20 college students as well as curriculum and materials for the pre and post camp activities, two-week summer residential program. In addition, Project Coordinator is responsible to support the program analysis and program reporting to funders, and to support other program staff across STARTALK to achieve their goals.

Position Information

Program Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the STARTALK Pilot Program including all phases of the pilot project. The incumbent will implement program activities, provide support to all STARTALK Program participants, help coordinate and manage the budget under the direction of the Principal Investigator; hiring, providing training and guidance to project associates, monitoring and evaluating the project process and products, and will serve as the liaison to consultants, teachers and administrators for project coordination, development, implementation, and evaluation.

Administrative Duties:

  • Coordinate the budget under the direction of the Principal Investigator.
  • Coordinate the hiring and training; and provide guidance to project associates.
  • Monitor and evaluate the project process, and liaison to consultants, teachers and administrators for project coordination, development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Co-lead, plan and implement regular the California Startalk Program (CAST) meetings for all instructors teaching across the CAST programs
  • Design and implement vision for the California Startalk (CAST) teaching staff
  • Oversee recruitment of students in California Startalk (CAST) program
  • Serve as main point of contact for participants of the CAST program
  • Provide case management support for CASST participants

Program Coordination

  • Work with Principal Investigator on all aspects of the pilot program related to the development of the CAST curriculum
  • Support CAST curriculum development both print and digital; provide curriculum team with additional resources
  • Report CAST curriculum data, analysis, evaluation, and recommendation to the Principal Investigator and National Security Agency
  • Prepare and present in local and national conference presentations
  • Ensure timely information is given to all participants
  • Responsible for the successful implementation of the CAST program, ensuring that all goals are met
  • Develop and facilitate an on-going practice to ensure program participant work and coaching meets needs of program
  • Use data to identify priorities and challenges for program and students
  • Oversee data collection and writing of monthly and annual funder reports in collaboration with Principal Investigator.
  • Work with teaching staff and special consultants to ensure high-quality delivery of program
  • Work with Principal Investigator in implementing program activities and support to all program participants

Minimum Qualifications

Under general direction, performance of administrative and/or program leadership in a large and/or complex organizational unit with broad impact.

Use of appreciable judgment in the development of policies and procedures related to issues frequently not covered by existing policies and procedures. Precedents and policies to guide development activities may be available for reference.

Use of appreciable ingenuity and innovation to conceive of new approaches and solutions to address complex problems and issues.

Serve as the prime contact for the program, specialty, and/or organizational unit. May manage relationships with outside entities or agencies and manage sensitive information and situations.

May oversee day-to-day program or organizational unit operations and provide lead work direction to other professional or administrative staff, with accountability for results.

Thorough knowledge of and ability to apply extensive expertise to complex programs and/or administrative specialties, including pertinent laws and regulations.

Demonstrated expertise in and advanced knowledge of the principles, problems, and methods of public and business administration and operational and fiscal management.

Expertise in administrative survey techniques, operations and systems analysis, statistical and research methods, and the ability to interpret and evaluate results to develop sound conclusions and recommend new or revised policies.

Ability to understand problems from a broad, interactive perspective and discern applicable underlying principles to conceive of and develop strategic solutions.

Ability to work with representatives from public and private entities and handle potentially sensitive situations. Demonstrated consultative skills in working with internal and external constituent groups.

Ability to effectively present ideas and concepts in written or presentation format and use consultative and facilitation skills to gain consensus.

Preferred Qualifications

BA in business management or related field. Chinese competence is required

Experience working in Chinese language programs and administering summer camp is required. Knowledge of Chinese multimedia and social media is required.
