Lecturer Faculty Pool in Chemistry & Biochemistry

The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at San Francisco State University invites applications for part-time, temporary lecturer faculty positions in 2022-2023. We especially encourage individuals who reflect the diverse student body at SF State (https://ir.sfsu.edu/infographics) to apply. The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at SF State is a mid-size department with approximately 400 undergraduate majors, 30 graduate students and 16 tenure-line faculty. The vast majority of available teaching assignments are lower-division (numbered 100 and 200), but occasionally we need intructors of upper-division courses (numbered 300 and above).   • Master’s degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a closely related field.


  • Record of teaching contributions in the areas of undergraduate chemistry and/or biochemistry;
  • Demonstrated ability to incorporate inclusion, diversity, and equity in teaching;
  • Experience working closely with students from historically under-represented communities;
  • Record of contributing to collegial, supportive, and collaborative work environments;
  • A Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or closely related field is preferred only for teaching upper-division courses (numbered 300 or higher).

  • a current Curriculum Vitae, including details of current and previous teaching experience;
  • the names and contact information of two professional references who are in a position to comment on the applicant’s current or previous teaching experience.

This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill part-time, temporary, assignments on an as-needed basis. We will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill assignments as the need arises. Part-time faculty applications are accepted year-round.
