Mount Aloysius College is seeking candidates for adjunct teaching opportunities in its English department for the 2022-2023 Academic Year. Possible courses include: Rhetoric I (English Composition) or Rhetoric II (Introduction to Literature). Such courses will be taught via in-person format on campus in Cresson, PA, as remote work is not available for this position. Teaching opportunities exist for both daytime and evening courses

The successful candidate/s will instruct students in all aspects of English composition or essential aspects of Literature.Writing process, rhetoric, research, and citation are the focus in the Rhetoric I (English Composition) course, and works from across literary genres as well as continued instruction on writing process and research are the focus of the Rhetoric II (Introduction to Literature) course.

Additional responsibilities include managing syllabi, course materials, assignments, and in-class lesson plans to support course learning outcomes as defined by Mount Aloysius College. Faculty are expected to create an interactive, student-centered learning environment in the classroom. Some basic course materials should be made available to students using the Canvas Learning Management System. Qualifications:

Master’s degree in English or Composition and relevant classroom teaching experience required. Experience using Canvas Learning Management System, or similar LMS preferred. Ability to remain flexible and employ a range of classroom/instructional technologies required. Strong interpersonal and both oral and written communication skills, organizational and record-keeping skills necessary. Experience in the higher education setting a plus. Demonstrated ability to express sensitivity to the needs and concerns of diverse student populations; socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds; and students with disabilities a must.
