SUMMARY

The Adjunct Faculty will be primarily responsible for providing instruction of one or more of the following content areas: mathematics, science, reading, social studies and English for English Language Learners to populations receiving Adult Literacy Services.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

A. the Adjunct Faculty reports directly to and is responsible to the Director of Developmental Education and Adult Literacy Services.

B. The Adjunct Faculty works closely with the Instructional Specialist of the Program of Adult Literacy Services.

ADJUNCT FACULTY RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Works with the Instructional Specialist and other faculty to develop curriculum and contributes towards the assessment of students.

B. Completes 10 hours of assigned professional development annually (paid).

C. Maintains both paper and digital student documentation as required by the grant and submits as requested in a timely manner.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Candidates must have an earned Bachelor’s degree in education, mathematics, English, ELL or other appropriate educational field and successful teaching experience. Familiarity with GED, NEDP and/or ELL programs are essential. Experience with curriculum development and teaching in a K-12 system is a plus. The successful applicant must be able to integrate digital literacy skills with content instruction.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Strong organizational skills and ability to meet due dates with little to no errors. To ensure compliance with the grantor, must review and adhere to federal guidelines provided by the Program of Adult Literacy Services.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Classroom/Computer lab environment and sometimes remote instruction is required.

More than 100 programs of study are available for university transfer, career preparation, and personal enrichment. HCC also offers non-credit continuing education courses and customized training programs, as well as remedial and developmental courses to help students prepare for college-level offerings. Accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, HCC awards associate degrees, certificates, and letters of recognition.

 

HCC employs approximately 540 individuals each year in full and part-time positions. Hundreds of student workers and campus volunteers also serve the campus community.
