UW Medical Center - Northwest has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Social Worker inpatient setting.

UW Medical Center – Northwest is a full-service medical center based in North Seattle. We are a non-profit community hospital offering comprehensive medical, surgical and therapeutic services. With 281 beds, more than 2,000 employees and a world-class medical staff, we provide innovative, technologically advanced care on a patient-friendly, easy-access campus, just north of Seattle.

SCHEDULE
Full time, day shift, 8 hours per shift, plus occasional weekends; 40 hours per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Utilizes medical record and consultation with interdisciplinary staff to screen patients for service needs, provide information regarding Social Work activity and to coordinate care as part of an interdisciplinary team

  • Assesses for the psychosocial and disposition planning needs of patients and when appropriate, their support systems, and develops appropriate interventions to address such needs

  • Provides patient-centered care by treating patients and their support systems with respect and dignity, involving them in their care whenever possible
    Serves as liaison between medical staff and patients/families, providing support and advocacy as needed

  • Maintains positive working relationships within the department, with UWMC staff, and with community providers by effective oral and written communication

  • Provides education to other health care providers and staff, patients and their support systems on psychosocial issues, community resources, and the role of social work

  • Responds to crisis situations and emergency codes, as appropriate, and participates in implementation of departmental and UWMC disaster plans in the event of internal and external disasters

  • Documents pertinent clinical activity and statistical data in a timely manner, to meet professional standards, departmental and UWMC policies and regulatory requirements

  • Provides training to new staff and students and represents the department and UWMC to internal and external groups

  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • REQUIREMENTS:A Master of Social Work Degree from a program accredited by the Council of Social Work Education AND a minimum of six months of experience in a health care delivery system.
    OR
    Equivalent education/experience.
    Health care experience can include a practicum placement as part of a social work training program and/or employment experience.

    LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
    Within 90 days of hire must hold one of the following credentials issued by the state of Washington:
    Actively licensed and in good standing as a social worker in the state of Washington possessing one of the following credentials:
  • LICSW (Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker)

  • LASW (Licensed Advanced Social Worker)

  • LSWAIC (Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker Associate)

  • LSWAA (Licensed Advanced Social Worker Associate).
