About this position

JOB SUMMARY: As a member of the Office of Admissions recruitment team, the Admissions Counselor is responsible for meeting or exceeding the freshman recruitment goal for an assigned geographical territory. The incumbent will articulate the mission and values of the College to prospective students and families, and become thoroughly familiar with academic majors, campus activities, and all other aspects of student life at Florida Southern College that impact the recruitment of new students to the campus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Represent the College at college fairs, high school visits, student/parent receptions, and other events as needed.
2. Develop and maintain relationships with guidance counselors at designated high schools within territory.
3. Provide admission counseling to prospective students and their parents through all phases of the admissions and financial aid processes.
4. Maintain accurate and up-to-date student prospect database.
5. Conduct interviews and presentations with prospective students and their families.
6. Conduct initial application readings and admissions file review.
7. In addition to recruitment and territory management responsibilities, the Admissions Counselor will also represent the Office of Admissions at all on campus recruitment events, including but not limited to, open house events, scholars weekends, preview days, accepted student days, and registration and orientation events.
8. Contribute to the overall success of the Admissions department by performing all other duties as assigned by the Senior Assistant and/or Associate Director.

EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
2. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must be able to clear a driver history check with a clean record.
3. Ability to articulate the mission of the College and the value of a liberal arts education.
4. Ability to establish priorities, set deadlines, and meet goals.
5. Ability to travel and work evening and weekend hours as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Regularly required to sit, stand, bend and lift up to 30 pounds.
2. Must be able to operate a vehicle for frequent travel using incumbent’s own vehicle.

4. Scope of the job requires frequent consecutive overnight and weekend travel, primarily during the fall and spring semesters. Local travel of up to 50%.
