LOCATION                   University of Tennessee, Institute of Agriculture, Extension, 4-H Youth Development (flexible in assignment location)

EFFECTIVE DATE         April 1, 2022

 

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Salary is commensurate with training and experience.  This is a limited duration appointment. Continued

employment is contingent upon performance and funding.  Benefits include group hospitalization and

life insurance, State Employees Retirement; Worker’s Compensation; sick and annual leave; numerous

University of Tennessee and state benefit programs, including liberal time off for holidays and longevity

pay after three years of service, reimbursement for official travel.

 



Qualifications
JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Deliver current, research-based subject matter information (DEI) and educational training primarily, but not limited to Extension agents.  Author publications for public distribution to support the educational programs.  Support the Tennessee program by planning and conducting regional and statewide events and developing publications. Plan, conduct, implement, and evaluate assigned phases of the educational programs of U.T.  Extension in such a manner that they meet the needs of all participants.  Address current needs and anticipate upcoming needs in a manner that problems can be addressed in a proactive manner.  Develop and prepare appropriate training materials and programs for Extension personnel and clientele and deliver them in the most effective means possible while modeling exemplary teaching methods.  Keep current in DEI and strive for professional improvement by means of study, seminars, professional meetings, and self-evaluation. Work collaboratively with other members of the state 4-H staff in providing educational resources for youth.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Family and Consumer Sciences, Education, DEI, or closely related field. 

Ability to organize, apply sound judgment, work independently, communicate, and collaborate effectively with both intradisciplinary and interdisciplinary teams. Show a clear interest in the creative art and characteristics of teaching or scholarly activities. Have an excellent scholastic record; and show promise in the ability to work well with colleagues and clientele. Must show interest in the professional activities of the discipline in ways other than teaching and or technical Extension work.

 

Preferred:

Masters in discipline area. Served as an Extension Assistant I for 1 to 2 years with a satisfactory of better performance rating and show evidence of ability to work well with colleagues and clientele.
