Lecturer Faculty Pool for The Department of Secondary Education

The Department of Secondary Education (SED) at San Francisco State University invites applications for part-time temporary lecturer faculty positions in 2022-2023. Interested candidates are encouraged to learn more about the department at the website: https://secondaryed.sfsu.edu/

SED offers coursework leading to preliminary single subject teaching credential across eight content areas.

Credential Courses include:

  • SED 701: Teaching for Equity in Secondary Schools
  • SED 720: Literacy Across Content Areas
  • SED 790: Second Language Development
  • SED 800: Adolescent Development
  • SED 751: Classroom Environment and Management
  • SED 752: Professional Perspectives and Practices
  • SED 759: Curriclum and Instruction I, content specific
  • SED 769: Curriclum and Instruction II, content specific
  • SED 640/660: Supervision of Student Teaching

Undergraduate Courses include:

  • SED 200: Introduction to Teaching and Education
  • SED 300: Education and Society

Occasionally, there is also a need for an Instructor to teach a course in our MA program

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master’s or doctoral degree in Education, or closely related field.

Preferred:

  • Record of teaching contributions in the field of Secondary Education;
  • Recent college teaching experience
  • Demonstrated ability to incorporate inclusion, diversity, and educational equity in teaching and learning;
  • Experience working closely with students from historically under-represented communities;
  • Prior teaching experience in fully online or hybrid formats

  • a current Curriculum Vitae, including details of current and previous teaching experience;

  • A statement describing your teaching philosophy and any teaching evaluations (if available)
