Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Technical Project Manager will work as part of the Institutional Technology (IT) team providing IT Project Management and Business Analysis support and guidance for Information Technology Projects.

The incumbent will lead Information Technology projects while fostering business relationships with project stakeholders and IT clients across the College.

This position will be responsible for the management, planning, and implementation of various projects that will vary in size and complexity and reflect the diversity of activity with the College. The incumbent serves as a liaison of the IT organization, assisting with capturing portfolio and project lifecycle information using project templates, monitoring the progress and deliverables in the IT Project portfolio, preparing communications, and helping IT Portfolio Owners. In addition, the Project Manager applies best practices in project management, such as those in the PMBOK Guide, to assure outcomes that fulfill project goals within scope, schedule, cost, and quality parameters.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of the job:


1. Proficient in using a structured project management methodology and proper tools/approaches, including agile.2. Proficient with standard computer productivity tools and with project management tools.3. Excellent leadership, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. These include facilitation, conflict management, change management, negotiation, and team building.4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.5. Ability to oversee and manage budgets. Ability to appropriately perform cost and time estimates.6. Ability to establish credibility rapidly to establish critical relationships with directors, managers, and project team members from various parts of the College.7. Ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams.8. Skills required to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, complex, and rapidly changing environment.9. Excellent attention to detail and superb organization skills.10. Working knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) service management and related concepts.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, information technology, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

· 3-5 years of information technology project management experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Coursework and project management methodology certification include a familiarity with the Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK).· Experience utilizing a structured software system lifecycle implementation methodology.· Experience managing software development or software as a service (SaaS) implementation.· Experience working in higher education.· ITIL certification (Foundation or above)
