Job Summary/Basic Function:

Visitor Experience Associates support the Sarasota Art Museum and serve as representatives for Ringling College through daily interaction and direct, personal engagement. As a member of a larger team, Visitor Experience Associates are responsible for creating a positive, enthusiastic people-centric environment to welcome, anticipate and exceed the needs of all who visit the Museum Campus with the hope of creating lasting impressions and inspired connection. Successful VEAs are approachable, comfortable initiating, able to adapt with guest flow (high volume vs quieter and more focused), capable of pivoting and flexible in adapting to changes based on Museum needs. The Visitor Experience Associate role is a unique and highly visible position, serving as both a professional steward and caretaker of the Museum’s exhibitions, embodying the Sarasota Art Museum Mission and furthering its vision, while assisting with Museum visitation, membership outreach, educational programming and special events. The successful Associate will be required to work within the Museum galleries and may also be positioned in outdoor or other spaces to assist and guide visitors in exploring art beyond the Museum galleries, while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of all Museum information (distributed or posted). The Associate will extend exceptional attention and service to all visitors, ensure the safety of the exhibition artwork and communicate necessary Museum policies.

Associates must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills; must be professional and welcoming with an inclusive demeanor and appearance and must be dependable and punctual. Successful candidates have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The incumbent must interact with customers in a calm, diplomatic manner when enforcing Museum policy/procedures, while maintaining an exceptional visitor experience. These are part time positions; 20 to 24 hours per week. Museum scheduling requires ability to work a flexible schedule with a varied, changing schedule that includes weekends, holidays and programming/events. Regular Museum hours are Monday through Saturday 10am to 5pm; Sunday 11am to 5pm.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent

• Previous Customer Service experience

• Familiarity with internet and email

• Ability to walk and stand in galleries for extended periods of time while maintaining awareness

Required: • Background and Credit Report

Preferred Qualifications:

• Multi Lingual

• Spanish language fluency

• Cultural competency
