Description

The Certified Nursing Assistant Instructor is responsible for the instruction of Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) students in the didactic, skills lab, and clinical arenas by providing a quality education for program students and performing instructional-related duties and responsibilities, in accordance with the philosophy, mission, policies and procedures of the college.

Examples of Duties

  • Teaches assigned CNA courses and maintains written instructional standards.
  • facilitates instruction using alternative delivery methods, as needed.
  • Informs students in writing of instructional standards including, but not limited to, attendance, student progress and cumulated program information.
  • Participates in the assessment of student learning outcomes.
  • Establishes, maintains, and submits accurate student and instructional records in a timely manner.
  • Collaborates in the development of new courses, curriculum, instructional materials, and evaluation tools.
  • Reviews and updates course outlines, and textbooks for CNA courses.
  • Assists with the preparation of course proposals and curriculum updates
  • Participates in the scheduling of CAN courses, as well as department, division, and college meetings.
  • Maintains records in compliance with New Jersey State Board of Nursing regulations and statutes governing CNA education
  • Participates in CNA program orientations
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US required
  • New Jersey Registered Nurses Licensure in good standing
  • New Jersey Certified Nursing Assistant Instructor credential
  • Minimum of 1 year of teaching experience or 2 years full-time or equivalent clinical experience required, (one year in a long-term care facility) Preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Applications
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with varied hours, including nights and weekends, to meet department and College needs
  • Possess the ability to work well and communicate effectively with prospective and current students, staff, faculty, administration, and colleagues and community partners
  • Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff and a commitment to a student-centered environment
