Human Resources Consultant 2 - Faculty Workload




DESCRIPTION:

This position independently performs professional-level human resource assignments in the area of compensation and position classification at Edmonds College. Consults with and provides assistance to managers, staff, and faculty regarding human resource issues. This position utilizes the ctcLink operating system (HCM and CS) as well as external technology tools for personnel data entry, processing and approval of faculty contracts, and special assignment payment requests. In addition, this position conveys information on complicated issues as they relate to compensation, including federal and state laws, Higher Ed rules, and the Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) of the college. This position works under the general guidance of Faculty Workload Manager who typically reviews outcomes and provides advice or direction as needed. Work performed is complex, but the impact of decisions is generally limited. Assignments normally involve making decisions and judgments within established precedents.


Duties and Tasks

Research and respond to questions from employees regarding their paychecks and deductions. First line of response and initial research into payment discrepancies. Research and respond to requests for W-2 and prior year pay statements.

Maintain employee job records - Ensure accuracy and integrity of job data records for all employee types. This includes data entry for new hires as well as changes in position and teaching assignments and processing Employee and Manager Self-Service requests for all employees. Ability to exercise sound judgment and use analytical skills to ensure data correctly reflects salary grade, budget allocation, and absence management status for each employee and job type.

Process Special Assignment Personnel Action Form (SA PAF) payment requests - Utilizing technology to manage the workflow and timely processing of SA PAF requests on a bi-monthly basis for upload and entry into the payroll system. This includes researching discrepancies in requests, past payment submissions, questions regarding budgets (combo codes), and troubleshooting technology issues within the workflow.

Assist Faculty Workload Manager and Payroll Manager in bi-monthly activities related to payroll processing including maintaining various reports and tracking sheets for compensation and contract purposes.


This is a classified staff position reporting to the Faculty Workload Manager.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


Ability to convey complex information in an understandable way to a variety of audiences in individual, small group, and large group settings.

Demonstrated ability to incorporate technology in providing human resources services to employees.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Ability to work effectively with populations representing diverse backgrounds, life experiences, and abilities.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


A Bachelor’s degree with a focus on business, human resources, social or organizational behavioral sciences, or related fields.

Human resources work experience, preferably in an educational setting at a community college or 4-year institution.

Current knowledge of state and federal employment laws, and various interpretations and application of the laws.

Successful experience working in a union environment.

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is typically performed in an office setting. The ability to sit at a desk/ computer station, move around the office to consult with others in an informal manner, work within a busy environment and remain focused on tasks is essential.



WORK SCHEDULE

40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.


COMPENSATION:

Salary range 51. Beginning salary is $48,996 - $55,524 annually for 40 hours per week, with periodic increments to $64,332 annually plus a full state benefits package, which includes tuition waivers for college classes, medical, dental, retirement options and more. Vacation and leave package includes 12 sick days per year, 10 scheduled holidays, 1 personal holiday, 2 personal leave days, and 14 vacation days per year (incremental increases to 24 vacation days per year).


CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

You must document your citizenship or employment authorization within three days of hire.


Position is subject to a criminal background check. Prior to a new hire, a background

check including criminal history will be conducted. Information from the background check

wil not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining

the applicant’s suitability and competence to perform in the position.


This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement.


All new positions are contingent upon funding.
